This morning before the rain got too bad we planted onion sets and broad bean plants.
Strung up some cds as bird scarers.

The weedkiller has worked and hubby has been busy up on the allotment most days, in between showers, digging over and then covering with weed suppressant fabric.

Today we went up in the rain because we didn't want to put off any longer. As we havent dug over the whole area we can access the beds without treading on them. It all looks a bit scruffy but it should work.

We planted two rows of early potato Rocket, one row of Pink Fir potato, a block of autumn and winter leeks, and sowed mange toute and early peas.

This afternoon I have sown Rhubarb and Asparagus for cropping next year onwards. There are a lot of seed in the packet so I figure that I can grow more than I need eventually and crop some in the first year as they can be sacrificed.

I have my tomatoes planted up in the greenhouse, Beefsteak, Ordinary, Red Cherry, Gold Cherry and Black cherry. I spent money on the big grobags as I have found that they work best.

Also in the greenhouse growing well are Sweetcorn, Range of Brassicas, Chard, Spinach, Chillies, Basil, Coriander, Dill, Runner and french beans.

Photos to follow when photobucket starts working again.

Such a lot of hard work starting from scratch but you are really moving things on . I am a bit fed up with seeing tidy greenhouses - why doesn't mine stay that way ? {rofwl}

Spent a busy weekend getting evrything out of pots and into the lottie.
Planted, cougettes, pumpkin, gourd, sweetcorn, tomatoes, brassicas and cucumbers up the lottie and beans, lettuce, herbs, chard, spring onions and spinach in the garden.

All the potatoes are up , some peas, carrots and beet.

Put in pea sticks round everything and fruit netting over the brassicas cos the pigeons this year are a real menace!

The weedkiller has worked well on the grass and docks but I see there is bindweed coming through now.
Have been so far behind at home that I have just weedkillered the bindweed in the veg plot and planted the runner beans without digging the plot over :oops: fingers crossed.
