Sweetcorn in the poly tunnel, which have cobs, only 2 to most plans but that will do for me

Image

Sweetcorn outdoors, it looks more green and robust, but no signs of any cobs as yet

Those sweetcorn look as they are going great guns Davina inside and out. I will be watching closely as we have go a mini experiment of a whole 3 plants although they have shot up and are about 4 foot tall now

Better start getting a job lot of butter in to melt over all those juicy cobs.

Pulled up the broad bean plants this evening, 2 pounds for the freezer, not alot but we have been eating them for a few weeks also.
Weeded in between the outdoor sweetcorn and red cabbage, pulled out the lettuce that had gone to seed :oops:
Lots to do tomorrow, can't wait to get started.

Had a good old sort out of the garden yesterday.
Weeded where the broad beans were and weeded between the onions.
Planted the autumn peas.
Planted the remaining pak choi and celeriac, some outdoors some in the poly tunnel.
Tidied up the tomatoe plants, I have lost control of the 100,s and 1000,s variety, I cannot imagine that all those flowers will produce fruit and ripen but >fi<
Got rid of one of the cucumber plans as it had rotted part way up the stem.
That doesn't seem like much now I have written it down, but it took me from 7am to 3pm, I did stop for a cup of tea and a delicious home made cup cake +f+ not home made by me I might add {rofwl}

Microwave for a few of minutes and a bit of butter on top - hmmmmm. When I was a kid, a bit of butter and some syrup drizzled over the top was divine but these days, supersweet varieties are sweet enough.

Re: celeriac - give them plenty of water to be sure they bulb up as they can be disappointing or worse, throw up a seed head. Like celery, they do best in fertile and moist conditions )t'

Harvested quite a few cherry tomatoes over the past few days, it looks like they will be ripening thick and fast over the next couple of weeks )t'
One of the smaller beef toms is ripe, so tomorrow after "fat club weigh in" I am going to have it with basil oil, cheese and warm crusty bread )c+

We have been eating cauli and broccoli nearly every night for the past week, good job I love me veggies.
Tonight maybe the night for the first sweetcorn, I will let you all know )t'
Picking tomatoes everyday, I really could live on tomatoe sandwiches on brown bread , just a shame my eating plan restricts bread }hairout{
Hubby pulled the onions yesterday, not done very well, naughty chooks thought is was a good place for dust bathing {warn}
Not sure if its my imagination, but a lot of things look like they are starting to die back >shrug<
