Sounds good. Not too much going on outside at present so stick to the Greenhouse or Shed!

Sunday 30th March 2014

Quite warm today although not over sunny ,getting one or 2 eggs everyday now so looking good.
The 50p Rhubarb I bought from B&Q is looking a bit healthier than it was ,it was planted late and didn't move for ages but its well away this year, not a big dish of stewed but enough to get you going {rofwl}
Image
Lots of blossom this year so hopefully lots of fruit .
Image
If this lot turned to fruit would pull the tree over. )w(
Image
The advantage of a Polly tunnel is you can get a little ahead ,should have a lettuce and some Radish ready soon.
Image
Carrots and red beet on the way
Image
Image
Got some Swedes through in small raised bed ,no sign of Parsnips yet in same bed.
Image
Took a bit of a hit Monday morning -5 deg Tomatoes look a bit down but hopefully will pick up they are fairly resilient.
Image
Lettuce and leeks ok no problems there.
Image
Caulies ,Cabbage and Sprouts all got caught have pushed some more seed in just in case.
Image
Image
With hopefully some milder nights things should soon pick up, fingers crossed.

Well done Bill. You won't go hungry this year. I've been watering carrots (the only thing I put in the ground) but I suspect I'm watering weeds really.

Don't give them to much water Annie ,Carrots need to go down searching for it hence the longer carrots .Another couple of weeks things should start to take off then )t'

Thursday 10th April 2014

Had 2 lovely days just like summer and things are really starting to move ,mustn't get carried away though with colder weather forecast for Easter wouldn't you just know it.Knocked myself up another small raised bed thanks to B&Q cheep decking ideal stuff .
Image
Will use the 2 of them to try to keep up with salad stuff through the summer.
Trying a different approach this year keeping the 5 bigger beds free for main crops this year ,these 2 will be for sweet corn in the nearest one and cabbage ,sprouts but mainly caulies for freezing under the green net in the far one.
Image
The nearest one of these is already full of main crop spuds and the far one is half full of onions and the other half will be full of leeks.
Image
Will be getting runner beans started soon same way in cardboard toilet roll tubes ,ground and frame is all ready for them
Image
Leeks will go straight in from the tray in a couple of weeks ,don't need to be to big as long as you can handle them.
Image
Caulies cabbage and sprouts looking a bit healthier now cold nights are gone and will start putting them out to harden in a week or so.
Image
Finally Tomatoes really picked up this last few days will probably get them into there final pots next week .
Image.
Will be sowing cucumbers and corgets next week on a warm windowsill

Thursday 17th April 2014

It has been a super few days weather wise , lovely warm sunshine but really cold at night with a frost the last 2 nights but it is not stopping things growing .Managed to get all our Tomatoes in there final pots and filled a couple of pots to warm and dry for the Melonie cucumbers I grow.

Image
These are Rhubarb plants growing from seeds to boost me stock up.
Image
First of the late spuds just poking through ,if a sharp frost was forcast would draw a little soil around to keep it off.
Image
Getting a few flowers on the Strawberry's so looking forward to some fruit soon
Image
Blueberry's got lots of flower on.
Image
Hear is a couple of pics for Angela ,girls looking good about 3 eggs per day at the moment
Image
Image
Sorry about that one they moved )t'

Monday 21st April 2014

Thought with rain forecast would be a good time to get me caulie, sprout and cabbage plants in , rolled back the black plastic to find this yike* ,one of the reasons I keep thinking of not growing Potatoes anymore.
Image
So instead of a nice planting job had to start digging loosening up the soil one thing them greens do not like.
It took a little longer than expected but got there in the end .
Image
Image

4 rows of caulies, 3 rows of sprouts and 2 rows of cabbage .
Just got one big bed left for me Sweetcorn, and we nearly there )t'
