Water for night time?

Post by Spreckly »

Sorry to keep bombarding with questions, but will my hens need water in their hen hut overnight?

Morning Spreckly,
No, they don't need food or water in the coop overnight.

No!

Once they go to bed they don't need any food or water. They spend the night disgesting and voiding the days food.

It's fun watching them come out in the morning as they run for the pellets and water!

And don't apologise - keep on bombarding. In the year I have had chckens I have found this place to be absolutely vital for info, friendly and quick to help!

Which is why I now feel I have a little bit of expertise and can answer some questions myself :D

Thank you both for your quick replies. Only five days to go now, and we get our hens.

At the moment my girls go in the coop around 9pm and I shut them away, then get let out at 6am-ish!, and dart for their grub.
But seeing as the winter nights are longer I assume this applies as well?. :?

Yes, same for winter nights. They just sleep for longer. The run for food is just the same though :-D
