Ants in th greenhouse

Post by Funky chicken »

Id left an open bag of compost in the greenhouse, filled up the seed trays before I realised I was crawling with ants, I screamed the place down running around the garden, hate crawlies.
So anyhow there's loads of ants in the greenhouse, do I need to get rid if them before I plant my veg? Will they eat the tomatoes etc (presuming any grow) or cn I just leave them? >coc<

Two problems with ants, they can disturb plants by nesting and digging out the soil round the roots, and they can encourage and even "farm" aphids on your plants.
Oh and if they are red ants they bite!

Otherwise I leave them to do their thing.
