A letter written by my Grandmother c.1904
Now, just in case, this is not suggested for Chickens. What it does highlight is the fact that Chickens in the Garden seem to go back quite some time. My Grandparents were, if you like, 'well to do', so I don't know if there hens were pets or more a necessity. Whatever, one thing which is nice is the fact I'm continuing a family tradition - although I didn't know that when I started to keep them.

Why did the chicken run away from home? What do you call a chicken in a shell suit? Why did the chicken cross the road, roll in the mud and cross again? Q: Why did the chicken cross the park??? Why did the chicken cross the road?? A chicken and an egg are lying in bed. The chicken is leaning against the headboard smoking a cigarette with a satisfied smile on its face. The egg, looking a bit miffed, grabs the sheet, rolls over and says ... Well, I guess we finally answered "THAT question!" |
