Re: Missing Chook

Hope you find your chook.

We back onto a field and one of mine got out via (we think) a hole that a rabbit had dug. I searched the field only to find her in the middle of next doors lawn.

Fingers crossed for your chook

Hi Manda

The cheese looks beautiful! What gives it the lovely yellow colour?

Re: Green Manure?

Am also considering green manure.

If you've got two beds you could do an experiement and green manure one and do some winter veg (hardy leaves under cloches?) in the other one.

Would be good to know what green manure other laners recommend.

Re: Evil neighbour has struck back!

Have just caught up with this post. I have had trouble with neighbours complaining about my hens before and I now keep the coop covered until 8am when I let them out. They only make noise when they lay an egg or a cat comes into view etc but my neighbours have loud parties. I think that some people ...

Re: Mash only eaters

You could try a gravity feed feeder which is not open like a dog bowl. we use one of these and it's OK but still some mess - so we have to keep it swept up or it really does get smelly when wet. Our hens are spoilt too - they even have their favourite bits of mash and wipe their beaks through the m...

Re: Bless little Hattie (pics)

so sorry to hear that. She looked like my little Phyllis who died earlier this year. Beautiful colour - and such a difference after she was looked after by you. I'm so glad she got to enjoy 2 years of freedom with you. Big hugs

Re: Automatic pop hole opener

We have one and it's super. We still check though!! And one day the battery went and the door shut at the wrong time so its worth checking - but gives us peace of mind.

Re: Advise needed - crowing hen

Hi We have also had similar problems with one of our smaller hens. (The smaller the hen the louder the noise it seems!) Being of an anxious nature I would get up and run round trying to keep her quiet, including bringing her into the house, in case the neighbours were woken etc. What finally worked ...

Re: The black dog is back

Thank you Mrs B. Sertraline has been suggested along the line so I may be able to give that a try. I'm glad it's helped you - and being able to reduce is a good sign for you. {hug}
