Re: Fox attack and new girls

Thank you. We've been very lucky since our attack. I think about my lost girls every day and miss the way they shouted at me each time I opened the door, but we are lucky that our 2 girls left really don't appear affected at all. Gloria has laid every day since and my rescue girl hasn't but I don't ...

New chooks!

Hi everyone, I thought i'd update you on our new girls. As we very sadly lost 4 of our girls to a fox last week, we ummed and arred over what to do and as we are away for the next couple of rescues and need the eggs, we decided to buy a couple of girls. So we have a beautiful Black Rock and a Bluebe...

Re: Fox attack and new girls

Thank you. I did think it seemed odd that a colour makes a difference. I've been looking for somewhere to get a couple more, but am struggling to find any Point-of-Lay. I'll put a new thread on to see if anyone knows anywhere. We miss our girls and their little characte rs so much, but are excited t...

Re: Fox attack and new girls

Thank you. It really is horrendous to go through, as many of us know and the guilt at not protecting them is terrible, but we've done all we can to make it safe for the remaining 2 and i'm out with my torch all the time. I went to look at getting another 2 this evening, but decided not to as yet. I ...

I'm so sorry that i can't offer advice, as i've never had anything like this, but wanted to wish you luck. I'm sure someone more experienced will be able to help soon.

Re: Fox attack and new girls

Thank you all. It really has been very sad and horrible, but we're looking forward to helping our girls make new friends. My ex-batt looked lost when her pal went in to lay her egg this morning. It just seems so wrong being alone. {cry} I'll let you know how we get on.

Re: MARILYN HAS ARRIVED YIPPEE

I hadn't been on for a while, but having caught up, i've loved reading this post. It just shows that bad girls can turn good, just like my little Henrietta (RIP) {hug}

Re: Fox attack and new girls

yes , i've done it once. As the run is a decent size and I would have 2 less, i'm hoping that with the extra space they'll find the introduction easier.

Re: Fox attack and new girls

Thank you. The 2 remaining girls appear to be fine. They're happy to be petted, are eating, drinking and the white sussex has laid each day since. We've fixed the hole, but maybe we should wait a few more days. I just thought it may be easier for them now before they fully adjust to being just 2 of ...

Fox attack and new girls

We went away for the weekend and came back to find that a fox had got into the run and coop and killed 4 of my girls - taking 2. I'd asked the neighbour to keep an eye on them and with enough food, water and electric door, I assumed they'd be fine. There is a small hole in the corregated roof, due t...
