If it calls for it i'll get maggots tommorow, but today i've given her some olive oil and massaged it down, it seems a bit better already. She had some tomato this morning, although she only ate the seeds, and shes had a tiny bit of bread covered in natural yoghurt, hopefully that'll keep bacteria d...

Chickens eggs?

Beyond the usual provision of grit & oyster shell, is there anything i can do to get harder shells? The shells aren't 'soft', they are just quite thin so theres the occasional breakage. Also if you think its not worth my effort say so.

Re: Can Chickens eat Damsons?

We have a few Damson trees in our garden and i gave them to my hens last year and they were absolutely fine, so i shouldnt imagine there'll be a problem. Mine also get blackberries and wild strawberries depending on the time of year, and theres never any ill affect.

Re: Paralysed chicken

Well Yesterday she was trying to stand up, and managed to take to steps and steal some toast before wobbling over. Today shes a bit stronger on her feet, but im glad she can put weight on her feet now. Shes just very unbalanced at the moment, but i would give it a day or two. Its good too know i was...

Originally i thought they'd fought but there were no feathers on the ground so i've discounted that and i've p...

Re: Pretty cool looking run!

The predator-proofing is done around the settlement, using various thorny branches and the like- to keep out lions, leopard and other BIG carnivores... You were looking for run platforms- here's one m" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The hens love it, and it's particularly u...
