Re: Runner beans

I forgot to mention Carol, i only save the seed from the best plants, no mis-shapen or curly pods. We had our last beens last week from 08 season and they were still tasty. I think last year they were selling for about £4 per Lb in the shops so well worth growing, cheers Dave

Re: Runner beans

I havent bought runner bean seeds for years, just leave a few on the plant at the end of the season and they will mature ready for next year. Store them in a paper bag in a kitchen cupboard and they will keep fine till needed. cheers Dave

Re: Warm Front Grant

Hi Ilona, i had a combi boiler installed a couple of months ago, under the scheme, £2700 worth of work. I found the whole thing was done very professionaly, quickly and the lads who did the work were very polite. I had to phone the owner of the company yesterday about a technical point and asked if ...

Re: Anyone make homemade wine from kits?

A lot of home made wines use raisins as a base and then you can add whatever you like for taste. Heres a recipe for orange wine which i have never made before but it has a 5 star rating in the book, i have just started making a batch this afternoon. 20 fl oz/1/2 L of orange juice, i used Tropicana £...

Re: What is Project Pallet ?

Morning Richard, i have sent 2 pics of a pallet ripping fork to another forum but if you send me a pm i will send them to you, this will certainly help the members to take apart the pallets. It is all steel construction and has 2 prongs on the end, they were used in the demolishion trade and in use ...

Re: new boiler saga

We are having a new boiler installed under the warm front scheme and we are going to have a wood burner in before next winter, with a bit of luck it should pay for itself in 2 years and we will have free heat after that. Check out the Warm front scheme, its worth £2700 if you qualify, cheers Dave

Breaking pallets is dead easy if you have the right gear, i have made myself a bull fork which was used in the demolision trade many years ago, these were used for lifting floorboards without breaking them, its just a 2ft-3ft length of 1 inch diamater steel with a T peice which has 2 prongs attached...

I made my own press and mold a few months ago and now have about 50 logs waiting for next winter. Thinking about the subject, i place mine in a draught outside, (a bit like drying clothes) and they take about 2 to 3 months, ttfn Dave NE
