Re: Red Mite again

You are very wise to do that. here, When building, we often dust as we go, especially overhead. I hope you have got the problems solved once and for all and that your chooks are suitably grateful! )t'

Re: Don't seem to eat enough

They eat less when it's very hot. I also found that my new birds eat crumble more willingly than pellets.

Re: Chicken run roofing?

We use clear PalRf made of vinyl, but we have shade at all times of year. You can get clear, translucent and opaque. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b132/LynneP/Flock/th_HurricaneHangersRoofing.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b132/LynneP/Flock/th_EdgeRunFraming.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com...

Re: RUN roof or not roof

Since the roof on our run has shade at all times, we use cler vinyl PalRuf. I love keeping the area dry, it's convenient and lessens the chance of disease. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b132/LynneP/Flock/th_HurricaneHangersRoofing.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b132/LynneP/Flock/th_EdgeRu...

We have or severe homes too. What is your set-up? We will have insulation, electric waterers and heater tape for the water supply. I love bringing warm treats as many of you do.

Re: CHICKEN KEEPING IN SUMMER AND HOT WEATHER

We're back in another heat wave and all the birds are minding it. Each evening I'm offering field cukes sliced lengthwise- they love the gel and seeds and will later eat the flesh of the cuke until nothing is left but the bitter skin. Another 3 days to go apparently, lots of water out and refreshed ...

Re: water bowl in the hen hut?

I leave fresh water in the coop for when they wake up in the morning. Sometimes I leave a second 1-gal fountain on a platform in case some droppings get in the other. I know, I know, I'm a worry-wort. )t'

Re: Quiet Birds

In our little framing community a couple moved in 3 years go. He is a terrible complainer but we are zoned for all livestock including poultry. He complained about *everything*, he should never have come here, though I suspect he's just a miserable man. Hurrah! The house is for sale. The commuity se...
