Hens will cetainly do that, they know their human roo is not focussing on them but on the wedding ,heh.

They eat less when it's very hot. I also found that my new birds eat crumble more willingly than pellets.

Since the roof on our run has shade at all times, we use cler vinyl PalRuf. We have or severe homes too. What is your set-up? We will have insulation, electric waterers and heater tape for the water supply. I love bringing warm treats as many of you do.

We're back in another heat wave and all the birds are minding it. Each evening I'm offering field cukes sliced lengthwise- they love the gel and seeds and will later eat the flesh of the cuke until nothing is left but the bitter skin. I leave fresh water in the coop for when they wake up in the morning. Sometimes I leave a second 1-gal fountain on a platform in case some droppings get in the other. I know, I know, I'm a worry-wort.
