Re: Floor?

Welcome to the lane.xxx Yes, I started with sand and went over to woodchip. Also agree that a roof,to,your run is much better than without. If you go,to "horsey" places, they do some good deals on wood chip,or sometimes you can get excellent value from wood yards, depending on how much you...

It's lethal. Used to twice and took a chunk out of my nail the first time and my finger the second time. Lol ...

Re: advice please

Welcome moondog. What a horrible experience. Check your nest box floor. Sometimes they make them,so that the floor lifts up from the bottom. "Totally useless!!!!". MANY are like,it . Foxes can just push from the bottom and get the chickens. We screwed ours alternately from the top and bott...

Re: What layers pellets

I might be wrong but I find the weather plays a part in how many eggs we get. They each lay between 4 and 6 eggs a week each. Generally about 5. One is off lay at the moment because she's broody. Havnt really noticed that different makes of layers pellets affects them all that much. Maybe in should ...

Re: Layers pellets and laying eggs

Hi Gregg. X Chickens will start laying from 16 weeks onwards depending on the breed. Posh girls tend to wait till about 18 weeks onward. Mine (when they are in lay), lay 4 or 5 eggs a week each. They are having winter hols at the moment, so few eggs. Haven't had any from them for about 3 weeks. Some...
