Whoopee New Hens

Hello All, Today we attended a local Poultry Auction and are now the proud owners of four more hens to add to our growing flock. Just thought we'd bore you all with some piccies of our new girls. Sorry. Names to be decided later, any suggestions welcome, before our daughters come to blows! A Blue Pa...

Re: Hows your chicken keeping going?

Claire, Yes rather warm, surprised there weren't more roast chickens for sale. Next one is in October. I plan to lock the wife in a cupboard It's only 5 mins down the road from us, so nice and handy. Three of ours were in one box without water but are otherwise in good condition and must have drunk ...

Morning Wendy,
Alison will get back to you later. It's the morning of the local chicken auction and we are getting ready to attend and maybe get a couple of new hens so we are busy beasting the kids to get ready.

Re: Hurray, it's finished!

Hi everyone,
We've got the final total raised from our quilt show, a whopping £2025.18, needless to say we are all very pleased and the hospice is delighted.
It was worth all the hard work.

Re: can i make a quilt?

Hi Sleepy, That's a lovely idea. I have made quilts for all my family and have been hooked on patchwork and quilting for about 5 years. There is an easy way if you don't want to attempt patchwork, most good sewing shops have cot quilt panels and the well known auction site E**y has a good selection,...

Re: A complete novice !! Need advice GOATS

When we moved into our house 11 years ago a pair of neutered pygmy billies came as sitting tenants, either we kept them or they were for the chop. We have always had 3 foot high stock fencing with two strands of barbed wire on top. However we soon found that shock wire was needed because the little ...

Re: Is vegemite nicer than marmite?

Marmite is far better than vegamite and it doesn't fall out of the pot as soon as you open the lid.
Mind you if you asked an Australian they would say the opposite.

Whoopee, only five years until I'm fitter than I was at twenty. Do I have to do any exercise or does it just happen naturally?

What we do is save the heels of the loaf, divide it into equal portions, squirt the required dose for each bird on each piece and hand feed to each of the girls so that we're sure each gets their dose. Some get a little more, some a little less, but they all get about the right amount and so far no ...

Re: Hurray, it's finished!

Thank you Ma,
Our quilt show was a great success, it looks like we have raised around £1700 for our local hospice, I shall know the final amount tomorrow.
It is so nice to be able to do something I enjoy and be able to help raise money for a good cause.

Hi, Mine love mealworms (no surprise there), sweetcorn (on or off the cob), strawberries, raspberries, rice (which I mix their wormer with), pasta, cabbage, lettuce, peas, stinging nettles and cheese and onion pom bear crisps! (Discovered when I accidentally dropped the already opened bag, I didn't ...

Re: Cavity wall insulation

Ilona, It won't make your house feel any warmer but it will mean that once it is at your desired temperature it will stay warm for longer saving the amount of time the heating has to be on, which will save money. As it slows heat getting out it will also also do the opposite and help keep the house ...
