Re: Coffee grounds

Thanks for your advice. I have great hopes for this growing season and will certainly put plenty of grounds in my various compost bins.

Cardoons

Hello, has anyone grown cardoons and what are they like to eat. We have four cardoon plants coming up on our allotment and I wondered what they taste like and how to cook them. Has anyone got any vegetarian friendly recipes. Thanks.

Coffee grounds

Hello, we have just collected a large bag of coffee grounds from our local Costa and hope to use them on our allotment. Has anyone else tried them on their allotment or vegetable plot, and were they successful. I understand they are good for putting in the compost bin, for improving the general soil...

Weeding in my Fruit Bed

Hello, we have a bed of fruit bushes on our allotment - blackcurrants, raspberries and redcurrants. Unfortunately, the bed is also covered with weeds, the worst of which is established couch grass. We would prefer not to move the fruit bushes. We usually dig out couch in other areas of the allotment...

Advice please - can chickens be left home alone?

Hello, We would love to be able to keep a couple of chickens but have no one we feel we could ask to look after them if we go away on holiday. The longest we are away during the year is a maximum of 4 consecutive nights. Can you leave chickens alone if they have a plentiful supply of food and water?...

Growbags for Tomatoes

Hello, can anyone recommend the best brand of growbags for tomatoes. We started growing tomatoes last year and, unfortunately, bought cheap growbags which gave poor results. Many thanks

Foraging for nuts/fruits?

Hello, We live on the borders of Bucks, Herts and Beds and have recently become interested in jam making and hedgerow foraging. So far we have found blackberries & small plums. Our blackberry jam is simmering while I type I was wondering if anyone knows where we could find any other fruits or nu...
