what could be wrong?

Hi, our 2 year old blackstar has lost approx 30% of her feathers in the last 2 days and has started walking around like she is drunk. Her feather folicals have hard white tips and her skin looks a blueish colour. We kept her indoors last night in a cat basket and no change. She doesnt like to stand ...

Flies in the nestbox.

Hi all, over recent months i have had lots of flies in the girls nestbox, last week there were maggots in their bedding. Their not causing any problems as far as i know. Can anyone tell me if i can use normal household fly spray to combat this or is there anything else i can use saftly? Thanks. Marc.

Feeding the girls maggotts?

Hi all, we have recently started giving our girls maggotts as a treat from the local fishing shop which they all go totally mad for.

Is this ok for them or could they catch worms etc from eating them?

Thanks.

Badger attack.

Hi all, just a quick question. One of our hens was attacked by a badger this morning, the badger had dug under the run and tried to drag her out of the hole but ran away before it had the chance to take her when we went out in the garden. She has a big flesh wound under one wing and other small woun...

Pulling out feathers

Hello, our Bluebell chichen has started pulling out loads of her feathers, so much so that parts of the nest box/garden look like a pigeon has been mur.dered (if you know what i mean)

She has no bald spots and is otherwise acting/laying normally.

Any ideas please?

Thanks.

What type of water?

Hi all,
Can any of you tell me why my 3 girls don't seem to like fresh tap water from their drinker but love water from our pond? I'm quite tempted to fill their drinker from my water butt, is this a good idea?

Cheers.

Is she broody?

We have a hen who we thought was egg bound took her to the vets but she is ok and not egg bound. She is just sitting in the nest box and day and all night and when we go near her she makes these funny gurgling sounds. She hasn't laid any eggs so could be broody? Yesterday we found her sitting on the...

She's not egg bound.

Hi,
I took our blackstar to a vet today who specialises in birds and she isn't egg-bound.

He gave me some probiotic powder to give her.

Can any of you tell me if there is anything else I can give our girls to give them a health/gut boost please.

Cheers.

Marc.
