I grow any extra that won't fit in my beds in old compost bags but only 2 to a bag and get good results. My first earlys haven't flowered for a reason still not su...

Re: chilli seeds

Chillis have a long grow season so don't wait too much longer. I germinate all mine in the hot press(airing cuboard) in seed trays wrapped in cling film to keep moist.Soon as they pop up get them on a sunny window sill :-D

DIY Pollytunnel

I started this tunnel this time last year(2010) Waiting to find and source the materials for free or as cheap as slowed me up I've made it for just shy of €200.The plastic was the biggest expense but should hopefully last for 5yrs plus. It was handy enought to build and good fun.Its 6x3m http://i971...

Modified Wheely bin

I've a couple of surplass smallish wheelie bins,5mins with an angle grinder, one turned into a wheel barrow type thing. The bit I cut away magically turned into a scoop for keeping compost tidy when potting. http://i971.photobucket.com/albums/ae191/boutime/225003.jpg http://i971.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: Anyone tried the three sisters ?

I'd planned to do it last year but only ended up doing '2 sisters'.Having squash in with the corn.Worked well, the squash leaves did a great job of shading out weeds. I'm doing the same this year but will plant beans too,but only around the perimeter of the corn,my beds are large and I'd never be abl...

Re: Italians ban plastic bags

Just seen this thread. Here in Rep Ireland, plastic bags have been charged for,for a few years now, started at 12c ,now 15c per bag.Its worked very well, the huge majority of people bring their own reusable bags shopping. :-D
