Re: Model Steam

I passed on your link to my Dad - it's his kinda thing, not mine! Although your work shop looks a lot tidier than his.... He says he's not sure what all the business about chickens is though (not his kinda thing!)

Re: one swallow doesn't make a summer...

Saw my first Swallows last Tuesday, is there a prize? Oh I think I should get it! We've had the swallows here since second week in March - and during the week before the cuckoos started up. It's great to hear them at first, but now they're driving me a bit mad! And the frogs are at it all night as ...

Re: Well done everyone - A poll

He is the spender, I am the saver. So of course his latest comment has been, "You did well with the budget, all things considered. (pause) You know how we bought the Blu-Ray player for one of the televisions? Well, I've been thinking we should get a second so we can watch the Blu-Rays in eithe...

Re: lidls best buys

Yup, I agree, L*dls have some good stuff - I also get their choc and occasionally they have 750ml bottles shampoo/shower gel for 99 centimes - my hairdresser asked me last time what brand shampoo I used because my hair is always so nice and soft, she wasn't expecting the answer she got! I also like ...

Re: Beki's Frugal February

Good - didn't go to chippy. Sold a job lot of baby toys - 25€ in present pot. Given two sweet potatoes. Bad - both mobiles need topping up. Ran out of gas for kitchen heater. Folks went to uk and I gave them a 'small' shopping list - total £50. Just paid lastest social charges bill 900€. Household g...

Re: Alex Scarrow, the last days

Is it also called 'Last Light'? That was the nearest I could find on Amazin, looks interesting, I like gritty books, I'm not really a chick-lit girl. I've got a little bit of money left over from Christmas too (enough for a second-hand copy!)

Re: What's your tipple?

Fizz any time. In the summer my hubby makes a wicked Pina Colada, doesn't taste half as strong as it is.... In winter leading up to Christmas I love mulled wine. Just got back into the joys of B52's this winter as well! In fact, I might go and get one now... Can't drink schnapps anymore due to overd...

Re: Beki's Frugal February

Blackcurrant fool - I expect that fruit fool experts would recoil in horror, but this works for me: 500g blackcurrants (or other fruit, I've used raspberries and blackberries so far). 175g castor sugar 150ml high fat cream (pref 35%) or double cream 150ml plain yoghurt 1. Put blackcurrants in a pan ...

Re: Beki's Frugal February

Not been on for a while, but not spent much money either, so that's good! Last week managed to save 9,59€ off my weekly budget, so very pleased about that. Also sold another cassette and a stairgate which puts 7€ in the birthday pot. Not sure that this week will be so good, we might go out to a fish...

Re: Marmalade making

Sorry.............I cheated. I bought the concentrate from a well known store Well, I wasn't going to admit it, but that's what I do! Every so often someone brings me a can over from the UK. But desperate times call for desperate measures and I have to have some marmalade. And you're right, it does...

Re: Beki's Frugal February

Weekly shop this week, 77€, a bit more than last week, but still a bit less than the usual 80€+. Sold two more cassettes today - another 4€ for the birthday pot. Had my haircut yesterday (a twice yearly occurance, I hate having my haircut), I've found a lady who cuts hair at her home, so only 10€! (...

Re: Marmalade making

That's fab! Marmalade is definately worth the effort imho. However, I am !!!! I can't find seville oranges over here . I was thinking perhaps I should try lemon or grapefruit marmalade instead, but I try to only make jams etc from fruit I can get for free. But I would make an exception if I could ge...

Yep, hope you're feeling better soon. Even though it causes problems, your place looks lovely in the snow! I do miss it (when we can have just enough to be pretty!).
