Re: I feel awful!I have done the same thing myself. My leghorn must have hidden herself somewhere out of sight and because mine used to huddle (even in the summer) I thought that she was in there. Our bedroom window is out the back but on the first floor. At about 4 o clock in the morning we were awoken to one very ...
Re: A....di productsMy 80yr old Mother does all her shopping there, but the one she goes to is huge. Our one is a lot smaller so things are limited, but yes when I do my monthly shop I go there first. As for cleaning stuff, I have found nothing wrong with them and they do the job. But on our outdoor market (I live in M...
Foraging.....I came in the other night and just put on the tv for a bit of noise. I saw the tail end of a program where these 2 guys were foraging for free food. I would really like to do a bit of this myself, but need more info. Does anyone know of a good book to get that will have pictures, uses etc. My partne...
Re: Struggling to do exercise.Hi, I know just how you feel. I not only have arthritis but the bone age of 80, I am 57. As for your walking, I would do little in the morning and again in the afternoon rather than in one go and feel it is a struggle. It will only turn you off doing it and you will fail. I know this works and it ca...
Re: Neighbours flock---- are they a riskWell firstly may I thank all of you for responding, and the good news is, it is not ILT. I have had my ladies checked over, and am as pleased as punch to say that they have been given a clean bill of health, and a complement to there condition and cleanliness. Apparently he thinks they are spoiled, ...

Re: Neighbours flock---- are they a riskThank you Lynne I think I will give the vets a call for some advice. My ladies have the run of the whole garden and my neighbours girls are in a large-ish run in his, they are about 10ft apart. So don't have any physical contact. Now you can call me a numpty, but, what is ILP? How would you treat it?
Re: Neighbours flock---- are they a riskThank you Steve, I will pass on what you have said and hope that he listens. I don't know what else I can do.
I know it is selfish of me, but I am relieved that my ladies are not at risk. Will keep a sharp eye on them though.
Re: Foreign Body in Egg WhiteHave you tried some anti pecking spray? My supplier says there are some good ones on the market. I have never had a problem yet with pecking, but I know that the bottom of the chain chook gets less of everything. Can you isolate her until she picks up a bit? Never had a problem with my ladies eggs, ...
Re: My Florence has gone to chicken heavenI am so sorry to hear about your lovely Florence. At least she was given the chance to be happy and know what it was to be a chicken. I am sure that she gives you much love and gratitude.
Neighbours flock---- are they a riskHi all, I hope someone can help me with this. My neighbour has a small flock of chickens (10), and over the last few weeks he has had some unexplained deaths (he has not told me the same story twice, yet they all have the same symptoms). He has had 2 hens and 2 cockerels die. They go quite and then ...
Re: Free tomato seedsDear rubarb93
Please could you tell this numpty, how do you get seeds from your tomatoes? Do you need to dry them first? Thank you
Re: Demon ChickenHello All, Thank you all for answering my question, I am very grateful. Sorry for the delay in my thanks. Well I don't know what was wrong with my Esmeralda, I really don't. But the unusual behaviour stopped as suddenly as it began. I have no idea why she started the behaviour but she has just stopp...
Re: Demon ChickenI dont think that she is laying at the moment. I have 2 hens that lay brown eggs and 2 hens that lay white eggs.
I am still getting 2 brown on a regular basis, but the white eggs seem to be coming one at a time, so to speak (every other day approx). So I suspect that she is not laying, but unsure.
Re: Demon ChickenHi Willow,
No she seems quite happy to come out of the coop in the mornings and is eating and drinking fine. But as soon as anyone of the others make a bee line for the nest boxes, she is there and she hops up inside and wont let them in. She will stay there for a while and come back out again. |
