Our girls love the rain and will look like drownded rats! but if the rain gets too bad they will find shelter. :-D

Hay is not so good for hens, as it can be dusty and have mould spores

We use hay that we get from the local farm. We did use straw at one point but we found when cleaning out the poop we would be throwing away most of the straw!! We are trying shredded paper for now, just until we can get to the farm shop for more hay. The shredded paper seems fine for our girls.

Thanks for that Mo. Our customers would be neighbours and work colleges really. Ive not asked Family to pay although they have said that they would be willing to pay.

Lorna, that picture was taken a couple of weeks ago, the chickens did get to some of the wild flowers and destroyed them. But hey ho i was expecting it, having chickens.

Thanks for that. No i don't have a cockerel, i was just wondering really. And we always remove the eggs as soon as we see them.

Chicken question

Sorry if this question has already been asked before, i have looked on the forum but can't seem to find anything.
My question is: When a chicken lays an egg how long is it until they get broody and will sit on the egg? As soon as we see an egg to take it out anyway, but i was just wondering really.
