Re: how much should i be paying? I would have thought a posh girls would require at least four cupcakes Dom And a pot of Earl Grey Earl Grey is minging...give me good old Tesco tea any day (and I make my own cupcakes). We are in surrey and paid between £12 - £15 for our girls who were 19 weeks old when we got them. They seem to go...
Re: They've taken over the garden :-) (with pics)Awwww, lovely pics.
Re: Carrots - How do I tell when they are ready?Pulled spuds yesterday....not worth storing as there really wern't that many of them. Probably enough for one meal for four people. They were only the little Charlotte potatoes anyway and if I remember we only planted about six of them just to see if they would grow. Still, they look good. The beans...
Re: Geraldine HOME SAFE!!I'm so pleased to hear that Geraldine (my namesake) has been found safe and well. I think I'd have been tempted to hold up the bag they pinched for the food and say "I suppose the chicken cut off the padlock and filled up *MY* bag and took it with her to the middle of the field too did she???&q...
Re: What's the biggest egg you've had?125g
Make's my Georgies seem like a tiddler then! I can't wait to have it for my brekkie, but will have to wait till all the family have seen it first.
What's the biggest egg you've had?I thought I'd seen it all when my Georgie laid a 69g egg which I thought was huge . Today she's laid one that's a MASSIVE 87g I know there are probably larger ones been laid, but just curious and wondering for those who have weighed their eggs, what's the largest you've ever had from one of your gir...

for you.
Re: I have really had enough of thisI don't know the ins and outs of fox laws or anything, but would you be able to set some kind of humane animal trap (so if it was an innocent moggy you could let it go) then once caught, take him for a very long drive and let him go somewhere else? I'm not an animal rights person or anything, just t...
Re: Carrots - How do I tell when they are ready?I've got some spuds that I think may be ready too. So will be leaving them and the carotts where they are and just pulling a few at a time. I planted them in rows like it said on the packet, but I think I may just scatter them next time. I feel quite proud of them as I've never grown carotts before....
Re: Nugget has finally laid again :o)I'm not sure hubby would be too impressed to see her sprawled out on his side of the duvet watching TV.
Re: Nugget has finally laid again :o)Thank you....she's done it again today (so I'm told...can't even give her a well done cuddle cause I'm stuck in bed having done my back in), so not a fluke. I'm so glad she's back to her normal self again, she's such a character.
Re: Eat or not to eatI've always loved eating chicken, it's my favourite meat. However, I could never dispatch one nor eat one that I'd kept as a pet. We did get our girls on a 50/50 egg/pet basis. I do a lot of baking and use quite a few eggs, so we decided to get some chooks. However, if they all stopped laying tomorr...
Re: emptying a crop....They do feel much better once they have got it out of their crop. My poor Nugget was so ill with it and I really thought I was going to loose her. She went off her food, her comb and wattles went very pale and she really looked poorly. I posted on here about it and the response was to take her to th...
Nugget has finally laid again :o)Am so happy.....Nugget, my girl who had sour crop a while ago is now finally back to normal and has laid her first egg since being poorly. I'm so proud of her as I was a bit worried that she was still having problems.
