pair of white leghorns

Hi all, my friend/supplier of hens has a pair of lovely leghorns for sale m/f. He's not so interested in big birds, he's favouring breeding bantams. He's not too tech savvy so asked if I could maybe put the word out. He'd like £20 for the two. Very nice birds. Ashover Derbyshire. Let me know if you'...

Re: cream legbars...

Have pm'd you - sorry, I went on holiday and when I came back I unfortunately had a bereavement to deal with so Haven't checked any of this in weeks. The two are happy and still awaiting a home.

Thanks

welsummer pair need a home

Hi all, I'm based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire and I decided after three years of having my pekin go broody to let her sit some eggs. Unfortunately, it's left me in that awful place where I have a cockerel. I would like to rehome him with his egg-mate (different parents, but both Welsummers with a hi...

cream legbars...

Hi all, I have a pair of young cream legbars, only recently hatched; a friend gave me the eggs to place under my broody pekin. However, he no longer wants them back, and they're going to be much bigger than my bantams. Bearing in mind they're an auto-sexing breed, it looks pretty certain I have 1 co...

Re: Chocolate wyandottes

Is anyone able to offer these guys a home?

They're very beautiful. I only wish I could keep roosters!

Chocolate wyandottes

Hi all,

I've got a friend with a pair of chocolate wyandottes he wants to sell on; he breeds wyandottes but not so interested in the chocolates now. He also has some young silver lace available I think too...

Let me know if you're interested and I can give you his contact details.

Thanks

Have these lovely Orpingtons found a home yet? If only I lived nearer!

Re: Dying hen...

Thank you all for your support - it's really great to be a part of a forum like this where people really understand how important these little hens are.

They really are such fabulous characters, and have definitely enriched my life.

Re: Dying hen...

Thanks; but sadly, a couple of hours after I posted this my two little bantams came knocking on the back door and I discovered Arwen laying in a heap. I picked her up; she lifted her head to look at me, then closed her eyes and did not wake up again. She spent the afternoon asleep on my lap until my...

Dying hen...

I just thought I'd post this. A couple of weeks ago I had one of my ex-batts, Eowyn, put to sleep after she collapsed and couldn't walk. I tried for two days with the home-care, but ultimately brought her to he vets where they advised it was best to put her down. Now, Arwen is unwell, my other ex-ba...

http://sphotos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/21894_10152620026070503_142590186_n.jpg Well the little greenhouse is up and I've put in a couple of trays with 12 borlotto beans, 12 broad beans, 12 carrots (purple haze?) and 12 purple sprouting broccoli. It's possibly a bit soon, but as I've a fair f...

Jo's diary 2013

Hi all, Well I'm relatively new to all of this. Every year I buy herbs and plants and usually kill them. But this year I'm serious. I've bought a small greenhouse, pots, the lot. And, after having seen Jannie's diary entry, I decided to visit eBay and bought myself a load of seeds (I did get rather ...

Re: Green Poo!

I might try plastic sheeting - just found some in the shed. Newspaper just wasn't doing it!
Eowyn still isn't right - she's struggling to poop, straining quite a bit and only a little coming out, and I'm almost afraid to take her to vets in case they say the worst.

Re: Green Poo!

I'm not going to be too optimistic yet, but a little oil and later a little yoghurt and her crop is less spongy and her head held higher. I will keep watch, but I think Eowyn just gets sick to stress me out! I have contemplated the idea of fungus and tumours after reading up. I'm hoping it'll be the...
