Re: Gorgeous Greyhound found Glasgow- Anyone hear of a lost

Thaks Evie, I have her on the lost dogs Scotland and the U.K register. I've had a few contacts, but will need to see how genuine any of them are. Off topic! A&A I have been quiet, I don't have a mo to breathe at the minute with work and home. I'm fine, but sooooooooo busy. It should calm toward ...

Gorgeous Greyhound found Glasgow- Anyone hear of a lost one?

Hi guys, Bit of an odd post, but I'm putting details of this everywhere I can just in case any members in Glasgow might hear or see something about anyone looking for this lovely dog. She's a friendly and gentle female greyhound, mostly white with some tan. She's had major surgery not that long ago,...

Re: Rhubarb wine making thread with recipe

Yup, the Ribena is a Berry one. (hee-hee Ribena Berry!) The chocolate one uses cocoa powder and demerera sugar, and is meant to add richness. It is clearing into a glorious coloured rose. Love the story about taking jam wine to vineyard owners. My grandad used to make wine when he lived abroad, and ...

Re: Rhubarb wine making thread with recipe

Helen,

I have an extra 15 demi john's in the garage! We bought a job lot from an old gent giving up for 30p each.

So far I have a fruit cocktail, my apple, a summer fruits with chocolate and 2 different ribena wines at various stages. The bug has bitten. :-D

Bring it on girl! {hug}

Re: Dog pulling on lead

Is your harness a "Lupi"? (yes, I know we all are round here). I used one for my staffie cross and it was excellent. My current car chasing border collie loon, Glen is in a headcollar. With a harness he actually managed to lean more and could still drop into a running crouch after cars. Wi...

Re: Rhubarb wine making thread with recipe

Our rhubarb's not quite big enough to give 3lbs yet, but it is growing well with the nice weather.

Once we have enough, we're having a go.

That's so funny you asked just now Helen!

We've literally just racked ours off again 10 minutes ago, and it is looking almost clear, and the most gorgeous golden colour.

Re: Diatom

Thanks for that link Jannie!

I've just ordered my Diatom from Wells, and had been wondering the same thing. I'd hate to harm bees, as I have a nest in my garage, and they need all the help they can get.

Re: Poo cleaning question

Get a border collie! The dogs go out seperate to the hens, but I have one that desires only to find the girls little presents as soon as she is let out after the hen's free range. On a serious side, I use an old fashioned short handled metal shovel and just scrape them away. If there is residue, I s...

Re: Winemaking - anyone interested?

Maybe a new thread for rhubarb would be tidier Helen?

We have several pencil thin stalks at the moment, but we are more north and it will be a bit slower. I guess if you post, we can all start when we have 3lbs ready. :-D

Re: Oh My God

Oh dear! Glad she's okay. We've all done these things, hubby left a dog in the car one day (thankfully in the garage in the shade) and she never even barked, we only realised 5 hours later when she didn't come for her dinner with the other 3. She was sound asleep in the drivers seat. Mr S needs to b...

Re: Winemaking - anyone interested?

Just a quick update.

I racked my apple and sultana a second time today, and it has cleared out a lot in the last few weeks.

I've also checked mum's rhubarb today, and it is growing nicely too. I've put first dibs on some.

They are gorgeous!

Congratulations!

Last year I got 2 more pet rats for mother's day, so chickens sound quite a sensible choice to me!

Re: Jean M Auel- Earth's children, Land of the Painted Caves

I'm part way through it already, and really enjoying it! So far so good, and it is nice that it is full of little reminders to the last books, refreshing the reader of things form 9 years or more ago that we've forgotten. I've not found any lovey dovey bits yet SS. When I read the first books as a t...
