Potters Wheel

I wanted to try my hand at throwing a pot so recycled my old music centre turntable into a potters wheel. Covered the base of the unit with plastic sheeting leaving just the turntable visible two large plastic deep dinner plates stuck together on the bases then stuck onto the turntable. Works really...

Loo Cleaner

I discovered this was possible recently when cleaning the loo !! You might already do this but if not try it If you use the type of toilet bowl cleaner which clips over the rim and consists of a liquid filled capsule connected to a plastic grill... when the capsule is empty dont buy a replacement, j...

Hi kate egg, i used broad headed drawing pins which have held really well through the gales today, and have attached it to the outside of the run. I think youre right, the residents would definately think theyd discovered a new game !!!

Yes they are large sheets and heavy duty plastic which hopefully will stand up to winter gales . I suppose it could be used to make cloches or greenhouse panels.

Chicken Run Weatherprooofing.

Our chicken run has plastic corrugated roofing but during wet and windy weather the rain can still blow in and make the floor muddy. Today I cut the polythene covering from a new double mattress and pinned to fit two panels of the run. As the sheeting is 6'6 x4'6 it has worked brilliantly, and cost ...

Thanks for all your encouragement. Llona, I've never really tried "proper dressmaking" apart from the compulsory apron which we had to make at school, which was pretty disastrous! I think I probably wouldnt enjoy it so much as i prefer working on a smaller scale plus would need large area ...

I get great satisfaction from transforming something old into something new. One of my favourite hobbies is changing baby clothes into dolls clothes. Most newborn clothing is hardly worn and therefore mostly good as new. I cut and adapt one or two items and make a new one to fit the popular baby dol...

My chickens have the runs.

All three of my hens have got the runs.very dark green / almost black. I stopped feeding greens and giving only pellets but this is still happening for 5 days now. Nightime poos are mostly more solid . Otherwise they seem fine and always ready to eat. They are in a fixed run 10 x 6 and the ground is...
