Re: Roof panel overlap?

Hi- yes, Walk-in-Run is walk-in run, i.e. run that is above head height and often covered. Sorry- been reading far too many chicken run posts all over the place and am picking up bad habits!! :-D

Re: Lemon marmalade

Helen- I admire your persistence! I'm too scared to even attempt to make jam (although have considered giving that cheat's marmalade in a tin a go!). Don't despair- lots of my cooking tastes quite nice with that burnt aftertaste, especially ratatouille for some reason.....! You could always call it ...

Roof panel overlap?

We are going to assemble our Walk-in-Run this weekend and it comes with the clear plastic corrugated roof panels. Now know to put the screws in the raised bit (not the dippy bit - thanks Steve!), but am unsure how much we should overlap the panels to prevent water creepng through and dripping into t...

Re: redesigning henrun

Hi again Mo. When we first got our chickens, before we ordered our Walk-in-Run from Bay, I had ordered some 3' x 6' panels and a gate, just to make a low enclosure. The Walk-in-Run isn't quite here (next week!), but the individual panels came with fixings to simply screw together. They are very stur...

Re: redesigning henrun

Hi Mo, I tried pricing everything up for the materials to build our own walk-in run and the cost really spiralled, especially with the wood, all the correct fittings for the roof etc. We have now ordered from Bay Animal Housing (based in Lancaster I think). Really reasonable prices (compared to my c...

Re: weed killer

Not sure I would risk a chemical weedkiller. Could you maybe try concentrated salt water, if it is just for spot weed killing? My MIL swears by it!

Re: Help needed on easy healthy eating suggestions

I second Madchick. Even if you are not trying to loose weight, SW recipes are great as they don't use any gimmicky stuff and are well balanced and really varied. You could try getting the magazine just for ideas as they used to have a week's sample menu each month (not sure if they still do though?)...

Re: help - we have a thieif!

Hi Cloudpurple, I've just had a look on Wells website (right of screen) for rollaway nestboxes. However, just noticed the rollaway nest box insert, which is a really good price and obviously cheaper to post too- m" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Not sure how effective they a...

Re: Help.

Hi Jayney, looks like an aviaries4u run, which are hideously expensive. For a much more reasonable alternative (not quite as "finished", but still good quality and sturdy), goggle Bay Animal Housing. Chris is very friendly and helpful to deal with and will change specs at little or no extr...

Re: How do I...

I've seen quite a few new coops advertised with onduline roofing and the waviness and gaps have been explained as ventilation and part of the design. I think you need special screws and washers for it (which are easily available from Bee&Queue) and you just screw it down through the onduline int...

Re: Diatom

I have mixed feelings about its usefulness. I painted the inside of the coop with diatom paste when I bought it (5 months ago) and so far have had no problems with redmite. I dust all the bedding and inside the coop with it regularly BUT my Sussex (who is broody) still got absolutely infested with l...
