Home needed for 3 hens.

We haves moved into a flat with a small garden and can't keep our hens. We did rehome them but they got bullied so we took them back. We found someone to take them and the coop, but they let us down at the last minute. So now we are looking again for a good home for them. They are hybrids and came f...

Re: Feather plucking

Well been giving them some meal worms - and hiding their pellets in the litter and hanging bits of garden weeds from the wire on the run. So they have been keeping busy. Keeping a close on on them and not noticed anyone doing any plucking - so perhaps things will improve. Thanks for the tips, will k...

Re: Feather plucking

Hi

Thank you.

We give them layers pellets in the morning then a selection of veggies and fruit - depending what's at hand - during the afternoon.

Am going to the animal feed place today so will look into some protien stuff. Perhaps some meal worms might cheer them up.

How long to eggs keep?

I know it seems like a very basic question - and I understand that shop bought eggs are not very fresh when you get them. But, how long will the eggs from my newly arrived hens last before they must be eaten?

We got our first 3 hens yesterday - and have our first egg already....... :-D
