Re: Treated Myself

Good on yer, I'm sure you deserve it. One of the first things that I bought on my retirement, was a kreg jig it uses pocket hole screw technology, and makes some very strong joints. All of my benches were made with the kreg jig using 4" x 2" framing timber. A bench can be made in a little ...

Re: a question for any fishermen (or women) on the lane.

Hi S-S, I personally would dump it, as I wouldn't take the chance of losing the fish of a lifetime. As a fly fisherman, I don't use long lengths of mono or braid (my through and tapered leaders max out at 18 ft) after I made up a load of tapered leaders, using grinner knots. I skipped a season due t...

Yay, we have got one. Thanks to young Jade Jones she will have a commemorative stamp in her honour as well. The whole town went nuts when she won the under 57kg Tae Kwon Do gold medal. Her uncle lives just across the road from me, and the whole family are bursting with pride. She has a junior Olympi...

The Newsroom...

Watched the first episode of this new series from HBO in America and I was blown away. It airs on sky Atlantic HD on Tuesday night, the first episode is on sky anytime as I think it has already been broadcast earlier this week. It stars Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer, the dialog and storyline was s...

The Voice UK.....

We have watched this programme right from the start, and have enjoyed every moment. Tonight's programme was a belter with everyone singing their hearts out. Leanne was a worthy winner, but we both favoured Vince Kidd or Bo Bruce. Cheers me dears....... )wav(

Re: Walk-in-Run covering to get rid of the bog

I found that sharp sand got very stinky very quickly in the run, so I swapped over to hard wood chippings and they stayed sweeter smelling for far longer. Two bags of hardwood chippings cost about £8.50 from Charlie's and lasted about four months. I very quickly learned that chopped straw also ponge...

Climbing plants help required.....

Our last garden wall was finally demolished because the previous owner planted ivy, which worked its way into all the mortar joints and pulled the wall over at a crazy angle. The wall finally had to be taken down and rebuilt. Donna M had me build her a new trellis, as she wants some sort of climbers...

Naughty girls.....

I wrote a while back about having to let my 4 girls go (due to difficulty in looking after them) they have gone to my pal Richie. They have a walk in run of about 500sq ft and get the best of everything from Richies huge garden. Last week he decided to let them roam a little wider in his 2 acre shee...

Re: Terrible joke thread

God says to Jesus, "come on son let's have a day off together, what would you like to do ? Jesus ponders for a while, and suggests a game of golf. God, who secretly hates golf, because he is no good at it, smiles a fatherly smile and says " what a lovely idea, let's go. On arrival at the g...
