Re: Home laundry detergent £1.50 for 10 gallons

Hi Stef, the website for this video has a forum attached, and they say that you can add a fragrance by using about 10 to 15 drops of essential oils. Cheers me dears......

Home laundry detergent £1.50 for 10 gallons

Hey you frugal laners, I just came across a site on YouTube, it's called The Urban Farm Guys, and they show you how to make your own washing detergent. It costs about £1.50 for 10 gallons, that's enough for about 8 months of laundry for a family of 5. They use readily available ingredients from any ...

Re: A sad time.

Thankyou, you wonderful people. I was a little worried that my buttons. Would be cut off and my sword broken and thrown out of the gates of the fort, (shades of branded, Chuck Connors circa 1960's). But as always your kind words and thoughts have made the computer screen go all misty. I will contin...

A sad time.

Unfortunately I have had to pass my girls on to a good friend who keeps hens. I did not take this decision lightly, as recently I have been getting badly out of breath and having dizzy spells whilst stooping to clean up the yard and patio. I have arthritic knees, and the only way that I can clean up...

Chickens behind bars.........

Yes that's right, my hens are doing bird. "Why" you may ask, well, I'll tell you. I reported a while back, that my girls were taking great delight in poo'ing on the door mat. This has not changed and has also gotten worse, they now prefer to come down the side of the house and do most of t...

Re: yummy yummy yummy

Hey Mrs B, Army surgeons have for many years routinely packed battlefield wounds with maggots, as they actually eat all necrotic flesh, and this stops wounds from turning septic. Sorry but the humble bluebottle maggot has always had a bad press. To my mind, they are wriggly little hero's. Cheerio me...

Re: "Go and feed those girls their tea time treats NOW!!!

We have a relaxed dress code in our house. We quite often don't bother to dress for dinner, mainly because I broke the elastic on my bow tie. The trousers on my dinner suit are also a little snug, and it helps if one can breathe when one eats. Donna M used to power dress, when she was employed by a ...

"Go and feed those girls their tea time treats NOW!!!

This was yelled at me, as Donna M came flying in after hanging out some washing this afternoon. "But it's too early for their treats" I replied. "I don't care" she yelled. "All 4 of them have just attacked me". Define Attacked" I replied, failing dismally to hide a...

Re: yummy yummy yummy

When my dad used to fish Winter matches, he would pop a couple of maggots under his tongue to warm them up and make them wriggle, they were the ones that he used to use as hookbait. I could never quite go that far, but I used to put my hook bait between my lips to warm them and make them wriggle. W...

Re: What's this behaviour?

Rapport hempcore is the stuff definitely, it has my vote every time. I bought a 20kg bale 4 months ago and I have still got a 1/4 of it left, it really goes a long way. If you can, get the Rapport with citronella in it as it keeps flies at bay as well. Cheerio me deario....... )t'

Chicken chuckles....

Have just found out that chickens have a sense of humour. I looked out of the kitchen window, and both sides of the run were empty. So assuming that they were off to bed, I went out to shut the pop hole. As soon as my hand was on the door closer, two of them popped out of the coop and shot down the ...

limestone flour?

Have had a couple of softies from Will's my Bluebelle, I bought some limestone flour today as I was told that it would help. I have mixed about 2 teaspoons of the flour into about a litre volume of layers pellets. I hope that I have not overdone it. I was also wondering how long I should carry on pu...
