Andrew James on Amazon big reductions

Went looking for a couple of things yesterday, and found that all Andrew James items on Amazon seem to be substantially reduced, got a great food slicer with 3 blades down from £139 to £39... ended up getting a better vacuum sealer as well...

Re: does anyone have or know someone with fybromyalgia

I currently live on an almost raw diet, trying to drop a stone and a half in n effort to reduce the compression on my back, and reduce joint pain Came across this reference today and recalled your post. I'm not a Doctor or a medical person, so just how much weight to put on one study I dont know,,, ...

Totally Scrambled, Compost toilets are becoming quite the thing you know, Japans whole agriculture used to run on "night soil", love the pun. (So did ours, but the history books leave it out ) Grey water flushing toilets quite common, if you have space, reed bed water recycling... HRH PW h...

Re: stop recycling, we have got enough !

Its a really funny world, in some respects our recycling efforts lead to increased poverty on the Asian sub continent, where many rely on scavenging for recyclables on rubbish tips. The USA sends large amounts of its recyclable products from the western seaboard straight to China in vast amounts. Th...

Re: The Kindle - Devil's Advocate post

As its titled devils advocate, I'll have a go at the idea that managed forests are environmentally sound. Most are species poor non native monocultures. Walk around a couple, the ground is barren compared to a natural or native forest. I think the most environmental option would be a private library...

Re: Solar Panels, Photovelic? and a heat source pump.

well, i used a fair portion of an insurance settlement for industrial injury to put 2.8kwp array on my roof, and a vertically mounted flat panel heater connected to a solar syphon. Been running under the FIT scheme now for 21 months, the solar array produces just over 2.9 MW of energy and the heater...

Re: The BBC - the Bad Back Club!

Certainly have to agree with the "get used to it" comments. Lost an argument with a fork lift truck in 2006, now have flat back syndrome, a dysfunctional sacro illiac, 2 x spondylolisthesis and dehydrated discs. The consultant told me only one very high risk op available , so suddenly all ...

Re: Climate change

Done, but with the rise in fuel bills in the UK, and the largest part being domestic heating. One has to ask , would a 2C rise in average temps not be beneficial to the UK population? I am of course ignoring the suffering in other parts of the world, but taking it as a thought experiment. This mild ...

Re: Amazon coming up trumps !!

As another Amazon fan, don't you think it strange really that an online retailer can provide better "personal" service than a face to face retailer. The level of service and more importantly product knowledge in many stores is abysmal. Still use a local hardware store for DIY items though,...

Non Electric light bulb, pretty amazing

Probably not what your expecting, but this simple idea must surely get the frugal thumbs up, and the good it does is probably incalculable.

Re: Before you take your books to the charity shop...

The problem I have with certain charity shops is they have become too savy as such, probably as a result of the internet, I find nothing wrong with them selling all their books at 50p or what ever, but now, one I know researches every item. and I think it does the knowledgeable specialist out of his...
