Re: Perks of the job.

I'm a civil servant (for one of the quangos), so nothing amazing... 30 days holiday and a reasonable pension, although given my pay's been frozen since 2010 and will be for next year as well. Wouldn't be a problem if I was on a decent salary for what I do, but I'm not. I guess at least it's a job...

Re: Headaches

Glad you found the cause and it's nothing more sinister.

Headaches are horrible! I've been suffering a stabbing headache this week which I think is related to a low grade tonsil infection. :(
Loads of water (tea and coffee don't count as caffeine is diuretic), sleep and vitamin C helps :)

Thanks all :)

Boo (and Gabby) are cream legbars, although Boo doesn't have 'show standard' colouring as her neck hackle feathers are more ginger/salmon and grey, than cream and grey. Gabby is more typical of the breed. Very pretty though, aren't they? :)

Re: Fox attack :(

Well I'm happy to report that Boo is doing billiantly and after a week of living with her in the house and her getting lonely (to the extent of following the cats around!), she is now spending daytimes out in the run with her new friends who we bought on Sunday! No sign of any problems yet, and she'...

Re: Fox attack :(

It's frustrating, as I told him last week there were foxes sniffing around and that they need to go back in before it gets dark, but he thought he was being nice by letting them continue digging through the compost heap >dum<

Hindsight is a horrible thing sometimes...

He feels terrible

Fox attack :(

We lost 2 of our beautiful girls to a pair of foxes yesterday evening. My partner, with the best of intentions, let the girls stay out in the garden for a little longer whilst he went to the shop (despite my saying they should always be put in as it gets dark). He scared off the foxes when he got ba...

Re: Home laundry detergent £1.50 for 10 gallons

I've not tried, but I think you can add essential oils for whatever scent you like?

Yeah, Summer Naturals is an online shop, good for bulk-buying eco-cleaning stuff :)
I stocked up before Xmas. They do good prices for larger quantities of essential oils as well

Re: Home laundry detergent £1.50 for 10 gallons

I'm going to be trying out 'soap nuts' once we run out of our current laundry stuff - literally seed shells that contain natural saponins that go in with the clothes. I've also stocked up on borax (substitute), bicarb and castile soap as well - not sure if we can name names, but i've found Summer Na...

In the run ours have a stackable storage box (lower front) filled with play sand mixed with some diatom - although when they're in the garden, my large terracotta flower pot is currently favourite...

Re: liking couscous at the mo.

Some lovely ideas here!
OH can't stand couscous (says it's too 'nothingy' - not enough substance), but I might get a bag in for my lunches next week as getting mighty tired of wraps!

Lost one of our girls already :(

I've been on the down low recently after a load of health problems the last couple of weeks, but thought i'd just mention that we lost our little Welsummer last week :( She was always lowest in the packing order and had never seemed quite happy since we got her, but we thought it was possibly due to...

Re: Memory Foam Mattress's and Toppers

We took the plunge four years ago and treated ourselves to a 22cm Tempur mattress with superking bed. Got the Tempur pillows as well. Have never looked back It's so comfy that if we go away anywhere we often have difficulties with the bed/pillows etc. OH has a terrible back (chiropractic Xrays were...
