Re: New owner

Well, that depends.... Birds in a run need 10 sqft ot im2 per bird, in a coop at night a foot each way or 30cm. This, is where you find out the set up you bought ain't big enough for what you thought it was. I will drink to that! but all is not lost, relax and enjoy your girls they know more than y...

Re: Pruning a cherry tree

I prune my Cherry after blossom and before the fruit has set, but do get a good sealer for the cut branches. Don't be afraid of it, I have to prune hard on the side of tree overhanging next door. Good luck.

Re: Wow!

There were cats about where they were raised so mybe thats part of the problem, they are not used to an aggro cat. They will be more aware from now on I'm sure. I have 7 foot fences and walls all round my garden so I was pretty confident about letting them free roam round the garden when we are home...

Re: Wow!

They are 17 weeks but not "that" small, but this cat has a bad rep, he is a big brute we have seen him about for some time but without the chickens to worry about I never gave it another thought. I have just lined the fence tops with carpet gripper rod, see how he gets on with that!

Wow!

Bought the girls home Thursday afternoon to their new home, up they went to bed yawning (didn't know they did that) good as gold at dusk. after all the things I thought could happen I was not ready for the cat from up the road to attack, it went off with a mouth full of feathers so I knew it would b...

We planted a really small one against a south facing fence last year, it has doubled in size over the year but no fruits as yet.

Re When.

I would like to thank everyone for their encouraging comments. The coop is built and I am going to see a supplier on Monday, he/I could not make it sooner (He sounds like a really nice guy). I hope to come home with a couple of Orpingtons. My 8 year old Daughter is currently floating an average foot...

I am a Gas Safe plumber so can give advice on most plumbing problems, although diagnosing from an email can be touch and go.

When?

Ok, I have done all the legwork, what coop, what feed, what breed etc, but when is the best time to put it all together and start? My wife thinks the spring would be best, so that we have got most of the bad weather out of the way. I work out side a lot so a bit of cold weather does not put me off an...
