Wigan not too bad was about -4 lastnight, had a ciuple of days with freezing rain and lots of icy mornings but think the roof on the run is protecting the coop only had frozen water in the drinker once last week, not had any snow think the pennines are protecting us at moment - was laughing with OH ...

Adding to my little flock !!!

Just made the phone call to Allison at lucky hen rescue in Wigan and reserved 3 girls to add to my 5 i got last April - just getting the boxes ready and going to shoot over in the car to collect them I'm so excited - OH agreed this morning and said they are my valentines pressie {hug}

I had the same prob with Vera a while ago - yes the stuff for horses is the right stuff, i use to mix a spoonfull in with a warm mash for a couple of days in the evening until the eggs had a firmer shell, it doesn't really make a big difference to the normal shells I found they were just a bit bumpy...

Must admit Saz my girls have been known to pinch buttys out of our hands when we've been sat in the garden - funny thing Vera much prefers brown bread and loves the crust's Maude on the other hand loves a bit of soft white and won't touch crusts +confused+

i mix a teaspoon of dried garlic in their warm mash or cloves in their drinker - the vampires stay away from my coop too :? seriously i read it helps them fight colds and has other health properties don't know about the worm prevention
