Hi Sunshine,we were the same with our two yorkshier terriers last year but they are fine with our girls,I am always with them when we let them mingle,infact Florence is not slow at chasing them off if they get too close

firstly thanks for your reply skeksis you have put my mind at ease,and today rosie has laid an egg with no shell (if that makes sense)so looks like she is getting back to normal.
yes mariat it took me by surprise my wife nearly had a fit it was her that found it,not a nice sight.

one of our gingernut rangers Rosie got broody about 4 weeks ago,we isolated her and she was ok within 3 days,she hasn't laid since and seems in good health,but about 2 weeks ago she went in to the nest box and laid what I can only describe as like a foetus the size of 3 large eggs,pink/blue in colou...

I'm the same as lbh ,I have a dog cage in the fenced of pen with food and water and just a little shavings usually takes about 3 days.but I leave her in day and night (nest box is too tempting for her.

my girls are just the same nesting in nestboxes for 12months now don't bother with the perches,but they are happy happy happy

when my gingernut whent broody I had to separate her as it went on for a couple of weeks,i have a large run so I put her inside the run but in a dog cage with her own food and water and no straw just wood shavings.she was back to normal in two days.

grity eggs help please

Hi all
one off my girls betty is still laying every day large eggs as always but the eggs have lots of what looks like grit or pieces of shell on the outside ,is there anything I can buy to cure this like a tonic or anything,any help is most welcome,she is very healthy and has no problems otherwise.

their is no safe time,my frieda was taken in october in the garden when i was only 10 to 20 feet away from her,over the 5 foot wall grabed her and back over the wall.ten second's took it all in.You don't want it it's devastating.keep them safe all the time is all i can say.
