Hi you have done the right thing separating them, but as manda said keep an eye on the little one for any other illness chickens have a lets kill it attitude when it comes to the ill or injured ones, she is only acting the same as most other animals do when it comes to the week and protecting her fl...

Thanks all for kind messages, spoke to vet he told me unless they have eaten a lot all should be ok :-D was told to give them plenty of veg and fruit, just been down to see them and all look ok but I know that tomorrow will tell, keeping all my fingers crossed

Rat poison

OMG in shock this morning got up to find that the fence around the run had blown down and all the girls were in the garden only problem is there was rat/mouse poison everywhere I don't know if they have eaten any but if they have will I loose them {cry} so sad today I feel so guilty

have 54 now 1 cream legbar cockerel with his 6 girls the rest are all auction rescue chucks all different breeds I also have 9, 1 week old chicks and 45 eggs under a broody and in the incubator, and love them all only down side was the pain of registering never seen so much paperwork with stupid que...

I get mine from D -Bay cost depends on amount you want including delivery I pay 3p each But I got 1200 of them and I split them with a friend )t'

HI RSPCA and recommend minimum of 3 square feet per bird DEFRA minimum of 2 square feet per bird unless free range then its 4 square feet per bird ???? really its as much as you can give Is that for commercial poultry keepers? Those are probably the sort of figures that lead to the coop/run combina...

I had the same when I stopped them from destroying the garden, Iv built them a run half the size of the garden but didn't stop them all looking through the mesh shouting to be let out I found throwing a few handfuls of corn around the run kept them occupied and soon forgot about the garden well all ...

Hi Lisa I breed cream legbar chicks but due to weather my hatch rate is down so don't give up everyone will soon be breeding :-D

Stupid question

Hi all I was just wondering if some cockerels can throw a higher percentage of males >coc< the reason for asking is that my cream legbar are hatching at 80% male :b(
