Re: Is this a bad time of year to replace chickens?Thank you everyone has been so kind
It has been a huge learning curve. We have got a selection of locks now and my husband will do a double check after I've locked the girls up.
Is this a bad time of year to replace chickens?Hi Following losing our 3 girls over the weekend I initially felt there was no way I would have any more. Losing them has left a huge void and I have quickly realised how much of a big part of my life they were. I had decided to look for new chickens in the spring but wonder would it be madness to g...
Re: GoodbyeThank you so much for all your kind comments
I just feel so guilty and feel i should have been able to protect my beautiful girls At the moment there is no way i would have anymore as I couldn't go through this again
GoodbyeIt's with great sadness that I'm saying goodbye to the forum. This morning we came down to feed our chickens to discover they had been killed in the night by foxes. As I am sure you can imagine its been extremely distressing and I've decided I can't run the risk of this happening again. We were able...

Re: using CoxoidMust admit I don't know and am clutching at straws. I have tried de worming, cider vinegar and poultry zest. She seems fine in herself but her poo is not the right consistence and is on her rear feathers. I would be grateful for any assistance.
using CoxoidI have a 3 year old chicken who i want to treat with Coxoid but have a number of questions. The bottle I bought is for pigeons, is it ok to use for chickens? I have just introduced 2 point of lay chickens who have been vaccinated. I was going to add Coxoid to the drinking water used by all 3 chicken...
Introducing new chickensOn Saturday we bought 2 point of lay chickens as companions for our 3 year old who had been on her own since Monday. Our 3 year old chases the 2 newbie's around occasionally pecking at them. I have not noted any injury to either of them and so have just left them to it. Is this the right course of a...
New Chickens on the wayIts been a hard week losing Hyacinth and seeing the impact on her sole mate Beryl. She's been very quiet and we miss not getting told off everytime we walk past the coop. Its not the same getting a slug and not having your mate chasing you round the garden trying to get it. We were advised to give h...
