Re: Hens wanted in South WalesAll sorted now. We've got plenty of hens for the time being. Thanks to Matt & Rebecca for sorting me out.
Re: Hens wanted in South WalesYes thanks, I should be collecting them next week sometime. Should also be collecting some more from another forum member this week hopefully so I should have enough then.

Hens wanted in South WalesWe're looking for around ten laying hens to add to our flock. If you've got any you don't want please PM me.
Re: Anyone still got any leeks?Excellent. Shouldn't take too long then. Thanks.
Re: Anyone still got any leeks?I've still got some Leeks in the garden and I'd like to freeze them. Is it best to cook them first or just cut them up and freeze straight away?
Re: Cottage Garden 2012Planted two rows of red onions and one row of white onions today. Didn't buy enough, so gotta head back to the garden centre on the weekend hopefully. Garlic are growing nicely. I'll try and get some photos soon. Also fixed some broken glass on my greenhouse ready to clean out and burn a sulphur can...
Re: (Sort of) Blackrock cockerel Free To Good Home (South WaWe bought 50 day old Black Rock chicks and had 1 cockerel and 49 hens. These are the offspring of that one cockerel. So not technically a Black Rock, but almost. Free for someone, even if you only want to eat him. I'd rather someone make use of him than him just getting the chop and going to waste.

Re: Cottage Garden 2012Yeah, we've got about 40 chooks and 6 ducks, but they're not allowed in this garden unless I get a problem with Caterpillars and then I let a couple in.
Re: Cider storage.I've got mine stored in old pop bottles and some other plastic bottles I bought from the Brew shop. It's good stuff. I find that adding a few tablespoons of sugar about ten days before I want to drink it makes it have a nice fizz. I give it a shake every day to mix it all up and make sure there's no...
Re: Cottage Garden 2012Haha couldn't disagree more.
Re: Cottage Garden 2012Thanks for the comments. I use Garlic in just about everything I cook, so save quite a bit of money by growing my own. The same goes for Onions, I can't get enough of them. Also Garlic was the first thing I ever grew and it's dead easy and stores well. That's enough to last all year round and still ...
