Re: Plastic GreenhousePaving slab on bottom shelf is the best option then use it as greenhouse shelving in future years.
Mine missed out on the first stage! I found that each shelf will hold up to four standard seed trays. That can be a lot of seedlings to bend over and plant out after potting on of course. Mike
Re: Oh my may have bitten off more than I can chew!Hi Mousey. Great name for an allotmenter, but a few handy hints. Get a shed, at least 8x6. Have in it something that can be used as a table. At least 2 fold up chairs. Small portable stove, kettle, tea/coffee/sugar/mugs/teaspoons/tea bag squeezer/milk if required. Make sure you never run out of any ...
Re: Any new ideas for pork chops?Bake in the oven doused in a chinese sauce of your choice, serve with rice or salad, or even jacket potatoes.
Don't forget the chef's wine. Mike
Re: For those of us with high blood pressureHi folks. I had a high blood pressure problem a few months ago, but was lucky it was caused by an excess of caffiene. Since I don't drink coffee, the cola had to go. Also most sparkling drinks contain it so now I stick to fruit squash's that don't contain sacharine or aspertaime as they cause proble...
Re: Had a fall this morningGet your man to paint the step with paint mixed with sharp sand. It's a cheap form of non-slip paint and is often used on boat decks.
It fits in with the frugal aspect of this site. Alternativley, lay of the falling over water if you indulge! Mike
Re: rabbit stew. For extra flavour add a couple of chopped rashers of streaky bacon. A single shallot is a good idea as well. A chicken stock cube as well perhaps. With roasted vegetables. Mashed potato with a dessert spoon of goats cheese with fine herbs per person. Don't forget the chilled white wine. A sweet Span...
Re: Midge bitesHi Lisa.
The best prevention I have found is to eat garlic. Not raw, but in other food as raw gives the worst breath imaginable! It seems like the little carnivors avoid anyone who's eaten and has this member of the onion family in thier bloodstream. Mike
Re: A pleasant view of the Veggie PatchCan we buy seeds for views like that?
Anger managment dayHave been over the allotment today. Weeds I removed last week, have been replaced by a fresh germination that has rockets up its roots. They were over two feet high! Now they can graft more than one variety of tomato onto a single root stock, surely the next logical step is to graft edible crops ont...
Re: Rabbit manure ??They sound pretty good to me. There should be a good meet/bone ratio. Unfortunatly I was very young when we moved of the small holding and my grandfather who was the small holder died many years ago so I can't ask him. However I do remember getting into a lot of trouble when I let all 200 of then ou...
Re: Veg crisis :(Any slime trails?
If not, think mice having a free lunch on your efforts. Mike
Re: Rabbit manure ??Floppsy, & co will love dandelions, and the odd small handfull of fresh grass cuttings. What breed are the rabbits? The best meat/bone ratio is Colorado bred with large whites. Bed them in hay, they will also eat some of that as a diet supplement. Contry to popular belief, rabbits are not big lo...

Re: Good for recycling, or gimick?Does anybody have one of those coarse fleeces made from an acrylic like material? They are very warm jackets and were the fashion a few years ago.
Bet you didn't know they are in fact made from recycled PET (drinks) bottles! An excellent way of recycling I reckon. Mike |
