Re: Do Bantys usually eat layers pellets?

Layer pellets are the last thing my bantams want to eat and they make that perfectly clear by mooching about like teenagers, they do make me laugh, but eat it they do..

Re: Incubating eggs

I might, it was amazing to watch but I think I might ask for a proper incubator for Christmas, we called our hatched goose Pippin, everyone loves him, he is such a hit with everyone, he follows my girls round the garden and they bath him, great fun

Re: Incubating eggs

Well it did work, except we had a power cut just before they were about to pip, sadly only one made it, otherwise it was a success, I researched lots about goose eggs, I think the Americans do geese much more than we Brits

Incubating eggs

well, in the interest of frugality, I looked online at how to make an incubator...I thought that people must have done it before the days of super-tech ones that you can buy these days. Anyhow I made it and a friend has given me some goose eggs. I have found it slightly hard to maintain the temperat...

Re: waterproof/wind proof cover for run

I am so curious to know about bedsocks for chickens????, my mum is going to knit some coats for the snow, I thought that was excessive....In answer to a couple those questions, we have a small coop with 8 bantams. We put extra sawdust on the floor and hay in the nest boxes when the weather is cold, ...

Growing my own potatoes

This year I want to grow some potatoes with/for my 7 year old girl, she loves the process of getting her hands mucky...I only have a smallish garden so wanted to grow them in potato sacks, you know the things you can buy in the garden centres... 2 questions, 1, Can I use those durable sainsbury's sh...

Re: Limping Duck

How is the limping duck? We have a pair of ducks nearby and the male limps, they come for bread every day during the breeding season and I said I think he only limps to get a bit of sympathy and more bread, he is fine, still around.

Re: stolen chickens

Oh my gosh, that is so awful, I would be heartbroken. Who would do such a thing?? Do you have any idea how they knew you had those chickens? I reckon if you put it out there someone might know because its such an uncommon thing to steal. Very sorry to hear that. Have a look on sites like pre-loved e...

chicken housing

Hi there, I have had 8 pekin bantams for a few months now, and have found the weather causing me great distress, my garden looks like a school rugby pitch, a complete mudbath. Anyhow, we decided to get the chickens and see what works best re-housing, so although they have had a small run on their co...

Re: nasty shock with a fox..please be careful

We read that the foxes don't like human scent, esp male so my son has been nore than happy to go and pee in the garden, my husband, however, handed me a jug full which I emptied round the parametre of our property, we have had to stop during the snow because the neighbours might see it and wonder wh...
