Meditation - easy!!!! (and good for you) ...

Whenever meditation is mentioned online, you will find a picture of an attractive young person, sitting cross-legged, preferably on a beach. Don’t I hate those! I have meditated for years, sitting in a chair, with good back support. Or I do my favourite: walking meditation. You can meditate in ANY p...

How do I cook pigeon breasts?

I bought quite a few frozen pigeon breasts today and want to cook some of them tomorrow. Everyone recommends to just fry them for a few minutes on each side. But I generally prefer my meat well done, not half raw. Can I do that with the breasts? And how about marinading? Thanks!

Re: WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMS

Oh dear! My neighbour found filed mushrooms which gave him a tummy ache, but to us they did not look right - can't remember the smell. They were a little bit on the pink side.

Re: WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMS

When searching for identification I found quite a few sites which offered courses and tours. I just checked where you live: maybe not in Bulgaria .....

WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMS

I found some mushrooms across the road: they smelled lovely, rather like field mushrooms but better. They looked rather like field mushrooms as well, but brown, no ring, and with a markedly hollow stem. I searched the internet but could not find them anywhere. My husband took a bite and they tasted ...

Re: Where can I find information about chicken production?

Egg Info (http://www.egginfo.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) says 33 million a day, about 47% of which is free range. And http://www.viva.org.uk/egg-factsheet" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; gives more info about the circumstances but advocates a vegan lifestyle, which I don’t.

Re: Where can I find information about chicken production?

Thank you! Mo, I went on the government site and it was a bit much information for my liking - I had hoped for just a few sentences, to use in my introduction. No matter, I found something in m" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;: the UK, apparently, consumes more than 29 millio...

Where can I find information about chicken production?

For a forthcoming issue of my ‘Thought for Food’ health-and-food blog, I am looking for info about, for instance, how many eggs/chickens are sold in Britain, what percentage of these is free range or organic, what breeds are commonly used, etc. Can anyone recommend a site where I can find this? Than...

What can we watch which is funny and topical?

I hardly ever watch television - only ‘Have I got news for you’, on Channel 1, together with my husband. When that finished, we took to watching ‘The last leg’ on Channel 4 - another excellent topical comic programme which apparently had been going on for years without our knowing. Now that is finis...

What fresh herb can I grow inside, now?

I like having fresh herbs with my sandwiches: dill, chives, coriander. I’ve currently got a coriander plant inside, but it’s coming to the end of its useful life. I’m not looking forward to the winter. What can I grow inside, on a southerly windowsill which is now 10°C / 50°F? Our house is cold …. I...

Re: Can I eat a chicken which died from unknown causes?

I didn't mean to cause offence I must make clear, Carol, that I have not been offended by anyone at all. This is a discussion between sensible adults. I'm glad to say I have not noticed swearing or shouting or any of those things which these days the internet is apparently full of! Long may DtL las...
