Re: Chalet Girl's Girls

Hi Karen, I don't think it was a soft shell...at least the bit I saw was not. This morning I went out to find Miss K sitting on an egg. I just reached under her and took it straight away. Mouse and Pepper have 'done their job' this morning as well and although I've taken the eggs as I've found them ...

Re: Chalet Girl's Girls

Poor Miss. Kitty!!! She's the one who ate the egg! I really think that she's just upset about all of the changes lately. I've been watching them a great deal today and she's running up and down the fence making the worst racket! Ugh! I must post pics soon as I can. The weather today really has been ...

Re: My attempt to keep chickens.

Aw Bob Sorry you're having trouble with the pics!! I use Flickr and copy n paste the BBCode and that seems to work a treat.

Been reading up on your flock! It seems I'm not the only one here who always seems to have something going on with the chickens I keep. :-D Never a dull moment hey?!

Re: Abnormal time in the nesting box

Hi, Yes all great advice here! I have one hen that goes broody about every three months I took some advice from a friend in New Zealand that works every time! Basically I chuck her in 'solitary' for about three nights. I make sure she's safe, has food and water and room to scratch around but I separ...

Re: I've botched up the introduction of a new girl!! HELP!!

Hi Sandy, Yes I know what you mean. That particular scene did make me stop and consider how they get treated to supply our food chain. It's not fair the way they are processed as a commodity with no consideration for the fact that they are a living, breathing, thinking being. Still the video sheds l...

Re: I've botched up the introduction of a new girl!! HELP!!

Thanks Karen! I just went out to check on them and the divas are snuggled up on the roost. Honey is in a nesting box. She's brave to go in with those three but I guess that's her way of holding her own. She's pretty smart actually. She went to bed early the first night I had her. She just found her ...

I know you're probably thinking what in the world was I thinking! Two things... one: I saw a documentary about chickens a...
