Shenanigans at the stables

I've been lurking on the forum again whilst laying on the couch out the sun. Hubby has been cajoled into watering all the tubs so thought I'd log in and share the last few weeks. I managed to get the dreaded worming done. I didn't confine them to the stable in the end as it was no longer 'spare' (lo...

Re: You and keeping Chickens didn't quite work out?

Me and chooks have really worked out! I love my girls (2 ex bats who arrived in the usual sorry state, and took days to pluck up the nerve to walk on grass but are now fat, healthy and bolshie!) Sadly we must part company - I'm moving house and the logistics of moving them to a house with no suitab...

Re: Where to keep chickens when worming

Ha ha, my daughter refuses to add me to her Facebook 'friends' as she thinks I will stalk her Thanks for your welcoming words. The two new hens had been bought by a neighbour of the lady who keeps her horse with mine. The poor things had been reprimanded when making a racket during egg laying and th...

Re: Keeping hens in a stable

I also meant to add that I put several cat litter boxes in there thinking they would use them as nest boxes but they took no notice of them. I found several eggs on top of a bale of hay, and a couple of others in a little gap at the side of the horses' blanket box. I've got several very large trays ...

Re: Keeping hens in a stable

Hi Mo When their usual enclosure in an orchard became boggy towards Christmas, I kept my chickens in a spare stable also (night time only). There is also rubber matting down in there and I put a layer of straw on top. They haven't scratched the matting at all but as I'm due to keep them in for a wee...

Re: Where to keep chickens when worming

Thanks very much for the welcome and advice. I have lurked on the forum since I became a first time chicken keeper two years ago Yes Mo, my mum indeed used to call me Lady Muck and whilst wondering what user name to give myself, I thought what is it I seem to do the most and it is usually shovelling...

Where to keep chickens when worming

Hi Everyone This is my first post and sorry I have to start off asking for a bit of advice. I have eight chickens which really do need worming. I have got a bag of Flubenvet pellets but I'm afraid I've been putting it off. My six hybrids were last wormed in autumn 2014. I kept them in their electrif...
