Re: preparations for the girls arrival on saturdayThanks bob. The farmer re stocks his hens and puts the old ones in a barn then contacts the rescuers so they can be rehomed. That's decent I think, but apparently he has caged and free range hens, I think its such a harsh way to live for caged hens. Some we've got for school are completely bald, but...
Re: preparations for the girls arrival on saturdayWell the girls have settled in to their new home, alls quiet and have gone to bed. Lovely to watch them foraging on the grass for the first time. Just hope the others rescued have found a good home. Shocking condition.
Re: preparations for the girls arrival on saturdayHi I've not been on holiday for 7 years. But if I ever do my daughter will stay at home and look after animals, plus there is a local farm that looks after hens for people that go away.

dogsThank you for sharing link about dogs, I wont let them around the chickens, I have my parrot out with them sometimes, my border collie disappears upstairs and my staffie who is old keeps one eye on him! I'm intrigued of what the parrot will think of the chickens, and what hell say!

They are fab when it comes to maintenance or if I need any physical work done. Only students doing b Tec are allowed with animals or those I trust, their never unsup...

preparations for the girls arrival on saturdayI run animal care at work. We have 3 ex battery chickens nursed back to health. Love them, their so funny. Picking up 7 more on Saturday, 4 for work, three for me to have at home. Never had chickens at home, the coups been painted, got everything I need. Looking forward to giving them a new life.
