Re: ex batts

Hiya,

Stace is correct, Warren/ISA Brown, they are a crossed hybrid hen, from what I have read up, they are a Rhode Island Red cockeral with a White Leghorn hen. But they can be mixed of other breeds too, though the above is I think is more common.

Re: polish chickens

Hiya Netti, I think for the moment, just stick with the ladies that you have reserved with Fresh Start For Hens and concentrate on them. They will be quite bewildered when they come out of the cages and if you get the hens from the garden center, they will be younger and a lot stronger and can do qu...

Re: Cats

I got 12 cats and most of them wont come in the garden anymore, not even my Bengal cat who is a born hunter. Her son Jynxx is a big big cat and he does come in the garden and goes into the hen run, he was in there with me earlier this afternoon and a batty girl came over to him and he dropped to the...

Re: A suggestion for new ex-battery hen keepers

I agree totally with what Bluebell said, a lot of our food is imported and heaven knows what goes into it! As for the eggs coming in from abroad, they already do....we don't know about it because the eggs still have a UK stamp simply because they were packaged in the UK! The supermarkets are driving...

Re: incubating eggs

Hiya Netty, Welcome to the lane With ref to the wire on the floor of the run, its not such a good idea as the hens will scratch the ground looking for bugs and worms and they could cut their feet. Sinking the wire into the ground around the outside of the run will help in preventing the fox from get...

Hiya,

It does look eggcellent Al, well done )t'

Did you put it on the members coop pics? I tell rehomers about this as its a very useful conversion. Almost makes me tempted to go and buy a Wendy house and convert it anyway. )t'

Thanks for bumping it back up LBF {hug}
