Re: all at once or wait???

We've got a mix of hybrids and pure breeds, a couple 3+ and the rest are 2ish. There's only 5 of them laying with 3 of them almost daily. We've got them in a large enclosed run on one side of our garden (I'll post pics later), and the larger house also has a 6ft by 5ft covered run that'll fit inside...

all at once or wait???

We have got 7 chickens at the moment and have just purchased a new larger house we intend to put up soon.
We're going to get another 6-8 chickens within the next month and was wondering if we should get them all at once or stagger the new additions in two batches?
Thanks in advance {hug}

i've just brought her in and given her a bath, pushed it back in- it came back out a few times but eventually stayed in.
she's now in the back garden separated, but she had a poo and it's come back out again {mr.angry} .
think i'll phone the vets and see what they can do {cry}

prolapse?

i've just been in to collect eggs and i noticed one of our white stars eggs had blood on it. Had a quick explore and saw Chloe looks like she's had a prolapse, atleast that's what i think it is. There's lots of discharge around her bum and a small bloody/fleshy mound protruding out. She's fine in he...

Re: Some people

OMG, how ignorant some people are we sell our eggs to my work mates and thank god they appreciate them it is quite amazing in these food savvy times that people are being so picky about something they should be embracing.....sorry ranting now as i'm a chef and very passionate about these things

Re: sleeping on the roof!

Never to early to start and train children!!!!! Is there friction at bedtime and that is why the newbies are sitting on the roof? Lol about the kids we've now got 8 chickens , with two new ladies we got last week. One has fitted in very well and unfortunately poor Freda getting all the bullying. It...

Re: sleeping on the roof!

The children are only 5 + 20 months so that's not really an option and unfortunately my partner doesn't like handling the chickens and panics !! I'm there tomorrow night, so will start putting them in and maybe they'll get the hint after a while. We never had this problem with our original 3 , it's ...

Re: sleeping on the roof!

I guess we're really lucky in the way of foxes as there's a huge park behind us with ducks and geese so we've never been bothered by them. They are in an enclosed run though, just in case. We don't have spider mite thank god, we had it quite bad last year so I was fully prepared this year and as a r...

sleeping on the roof!

we've recently added to our brood and occasionally 2-3 of the ladies sleep on top of the coop.
I'm a bit worried about them doing this as it gets colder and was thinking i may have to put them to bed , or will they be ok? +confused+
