I recently posted as we didnt know if we had 2 legbar cockerels, well this moring we had our first crow. We live in a residential area so we are looking for good homes for them. We live in Lightwater Surrey, but we are going down to Devon this weekend to visit my Mum so if any one around the Exeter ...

Cockerels or not

We were given 2 legbar chicks at 5 weeks old they are now 16 weeks and look really fancy in not sure if they are cockerels they are not cockadoodadoowing when does a cockerel start doing that

Pale Face

We have a black rock that is about 2 years old , she is eating & drinking as normal also preening but her face has now gone pale & sad looking and the wattle is pale too.
P,S I do not think she is laying either.
Has anyone got any suggestions??

We put about 3-4 cloves in at a time until they get to soft. We do this all year round.

We clean every week, and this year have not had to use any mite powder. Fingers x this seems to work for us.

I hate red mite {mr.angry}

We had a real problem with redmite last year but this year we put a couple of cloves of garlic in each water container, left them in there each time we changed the water. Did smell strong of garlic, once they got soft replaced them and this year we had no problem at all. )t'

Pale Eggs

We have just seeded our lawn and the cooks have been kept in their run for about 3 weeks, could not eating grass make their yolks so pale, they are almost white. They are being fed layers pellets any ideas, We do have red mite but the normally slows egg production down.

She is a buff sussex and one of my first chooks so is up there in the pecking order. Let them out into the garden tonight lifted her out of run and layed her next to the water and she drank for about 15 mins. put load of food round her, she layed there eating and drinking quire calmly. Limping Chicken

For the last couple of days one of my ladies has been limping, there are no signs of any sores on her foot. She is still eating and drinking but just sits there. Had to lift her out of the house this morning.

Any sugestions would be great

Thanks for that we have been spraying weekly with Jays and using Diatom, and red mite powder.

I mix up a jeys fluid mix with water and put it in a garden pump spray. You need to get in all the cracks
