Re: Sportsmanship

My grandson tries to get me to play Hearts * winning tricks with those cards in them is BAD, unless you get all of them. that game is chase the lady although I have heard many different titles (not all fit for forum) for it over the years. Bob I think that term that you are looking for is not bad s...

Old remedies

I am not sure if folk have been watching but there has been a programme on the box about staying healthy for less recently. Anyway I caught a bit of it the other day and thought that I'd give it a go for the snotty nose, tickley cough and runny noise that I seemed to have been gited from youngest da...

Re: BBC Countryfile - Avian Flu Reports / Updates

It was quite a good episode to be honest, very informative regarding the avian influenza outbreak and strain.

Re: Buzzards

It's a difficult one to be honest, Buzzards are more likely to be eating earth worms than chicken sized prey, they generally feed on small mammals, carrion large insects and worms. But that is not to say that they can't take out a chicken especially the smaller varieties such as bantams

Common frog in garden

I found a common frog on my patio when I popped out to fill the bird feeders last night. They should be hibernating this time of year and there isn't much for them to eat, I must assume that the warm weather has put hibernation back or interrupted the hibernation cycle. I have seen quite a few of th...

Re: Christmas TV!

I seem to remember from my childhood that they wheeled out the same bunch of musicals, Half sixpence, sound of music, and so on. Then you had the never ending stream of x-mas specials, Morecambe and Wise, the Two Ronnies, the black and white minstrels (would you get away with that now?). I seem to r...

Re: Living without kitchen scales

cooking most stuff doesn't really need scales in my humble opinion but baking does have to be at least in the ball park with measurements

Re: I'm a Celeb!

Unless it is a static caravan in her parent's back yard. To be honest it started to bore me a few seasons back and I only watched it for the Ant and Dec banter. I didn't bother this year at all, I caught bits and bobs of it and even Mrs Spoon didn't tape the episodes that we were missing through wha...

Re: animal fat in new fivers

I was reading an article on the book of face earlier, Ok it was dubious source but it was interesting. The actual amount of animal residue would equate to less than the left over material from less than half a beef cow to produce every note in circulation. The outpouring of disgust however is surpri...

animal fat in new fivers

An interesting article on the new fiver containing animal products. I was alerted to this by an old naval acquaintance, who, due to her stance on all things animal (she is a vegan)is now apparently refusing to accept this note in her change. It turns out that the disposable plastic carrier bags (ano...
