Re: Just returned from "Frugal Central"Well we did get someone with a chain saw to cut the logs to a more manageable size for the princely sum of 25lev which was about £12 then I moved the logs into the garden, TB joined me the following week and we stored some of it in the larger summer room but it will have to be chopped and stored in ...
Re: Black Friday bargainsWell said and well done.
Re: New year new me?Thank you Gwen, for me this is the year of getting rid.
Re: New year new me?Well I've now managed to off load to the charity shop 12 large bags of books and the amount of stuff still needing to be off loaded is daunting and I can assure you I'm not a hoarder. Toy Boy husband who still stays at his elderly Mothers house during the week is coming over here soon with his car b...
Re: New year new me?I know how you must feel LL, in Bulgaria I just leave stuff in the lane the day before bin collection and it goes but not as simple here. I do put stuff on freegle but sometime people let you down and don't turn up to collect stuff so on the whole I find charity shops a better bet.
New year new me?Today is the first day of the new regimen, to de-clutter and throw, so after breakfast its four huge bags of books to the charity shop and a car boot full of rubbish to the tip. I'm feeling good about it already and with my new years resolutions not to buy any new clothes this year plus "top sl...
Re: MiceThat's why I'm hesitant about using poisons and the shops that sell traps in the village and nearest town don't sell them either. You can buy poisons and sticky paper and so on in the huge DIY stores in the cities but I suppose there for use in city locations in Bulgaria, yes you're both right I'll ...
Re: MiceToy Boy husband was all for letting the captives go in another part of the garden away from the house but I know from other people that they just make their way back so I disposed of them as humanly as I could leaving the bodies in the garden for passing cats. We where on our way back to the UK for ...

Re: This coming year I fully intend.....Tell me about it Mo, I live in an area well served by people from all over the world but just lately it seems that heavens knows what, has crawled out from under a rock, nasty nasty, racist behaviour which some think is now perfectly acceptable well not on my watch, to me there's only one race and i...
Re: This coming year I fully intend.....Bulgaria remains in the EU thankfully, before it became part of the EU anyone from aboard wishing to buy property had to set up a holding company and submit annual tax returns. We bought our little village house after it joined the EU so own property in our own names, we will apply for residency whe...
This coming year I fully intend.....to buy no new clothes, I've more than enough stuff to last me a life time so no more, however I will continue to use old t-shirts cut up for cleaning cloths and so on and you never know I may even collect enough bits and bobs to make a rag rug. this coming year I'll learn a new DIY skill such as til...
Re: Advice on cleaning a fabric sofa?Just a thought, after the warm iron treatment on the grease stain, maybe try that carpet cleaner powder stuff. I've never used it but you just shake it all over, leave for a while then hoover. If that doesn't do the trick then get a nice throw to put over it when guests are expected or make another ...
Re: Just returned from "Frugal Central"So after several return visits to our little Bulgarian house what have I learnt this year? 1. Its not worth trying to plant any veg crops until we're able to live there full time because by the time you get back the weeds will have over taken everything. 2. Early in the year its possible to get sun ...
Re: New illnes......at my age!!!!!Well I've almost recovered from shingles then last week I ended up in hospital with high blood pressure and stomach pains. the hospital was overwhelmed with patients and very, very understaffed after tests I was discharged after three days thankfully.
