Re: Difficult for Dottie to eat.

Bless her, she is getting on a bit maybe her sight is failing? what does she eat? pellets or mash, maybe you could wet the pellets or mash, if she does manage to peck at it she should at least get something if it is wetter, personally I would see how she goes, maybe add a little honey to her food an...

If she continues no eating very much you may have to consider hand feeding her, you will know if she is getting too light )t'

Re: Another poorly hen!(Sorry, long post!)

I use flub 1% also, and I cut a grape into quarters, dip 2 of the quarters in and give that to one hen, the grape will soak it up too Do you mean you give as much as the grape comes into contact with? Or do you weigh out a particular amount? And do you then continue for 7 days as you normally would...

May be worth checking the coop for red mites too, just a precaution, although if they are going to bed ok it may just be they prefer to lay outside

Re: Another poorly hen!(Sorry, long post!)

t carrier would be fine short term, also with the flub you could chop a grape and dip it in the flub, I do that as mine don't eat pellets, bless you she is making you work hard, I hope she soon improves, you are doing all you can You could also check the base of her feathers for lice, just another t...

Re: Another poorly hen!(Sorry, long post!)

I am assuming that you have told the vet everything you have said here and all the advice you had was a vit B injection? if that is the case its a difficult one, if she was mine I would check the red mite situation it can make them poorly, also has she been wormed? check the crop morning and night, ...

Re: dirty bottom, dropped purple comb, red belly

The bottom sounds like normal poop although it may be making her uncomfortable, could you try and entice her to you with a little treat? mealworms, and then try and get some of it off? I guess being careful of fly strike at this time of year. See how she is in the morning, some do have some red ches...

Re: dirty bottom, dropped purple comb, red belly

Hello, a bit difficult to diagnose with the symptoms you have given but you could check some of these things Is she laying? Is her crop feeling normal? full at night and empty in the morning, or is it hard or squishy? Has she been wormed recently? that could be the dirty vent, or has she had too man...
