Christmas trees

Ikea are selling gorgeous real 6ft Christmas trees for £25 (not sure what sort but they're the large needled ones that are normally more expensive)
When you buy one they give you a £20 voucher to spend in store between 16th Jan and 12th Feb.

So basically a tree for a fiver )t'

Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...

Well done with the 11lbs Freeranger And well done Jem on not putting on 45st with all that stress Stress is a real trigger for me (wish I could be the type who stops eating when stressed but I'm the opposite ) I have been totally off track since mid July. Felt very low and hit the cake/chocolate/pas...

Re: Bananas

My daughters favourite pudding is an old Delia Smith recipe - takes a couple of minutes to prepare but looks good enough to serve at dinner parties. Slice a small banana into an individual glass dessert dish. Cover with a thick layer of natural Greek yoghurt. Crumble a generous amount of molasses su...

I'd also recommend the Solway coop. We had orpingtons in ours and they fitted through the pop hole with ease )t'

Re: Gazillions of red mite!!

Urgh! Revolting little devils! We found red mite a few times in our plastic coop. We would drag it out of the run and onto the patio, douse it in a variety of chemicals (Poultry Shield, Jeyes Fluid), hose it down really well and leave to dry. Then we mixed diatom powder with a little water to make a...

Re: My new bluebells and rir

We never noticed rain coming in (although we did put a clear plastic roof over the run not too long after we got it). It came by courier on a wooden pallet and well wrapped in bubble wrap. The nestboxes were really easy to attach (less easy to unattach if you ever want to dismantle it but not imposs...

Re: My new bluebells and rir

Yes, they felt well built and solid. It's the kind and if plastic that doesn't go brittle with age and won't shatter or crack. I also liked it being off the ground but wish it was a little taller - the space underneath wasn't quite tall enough to be useful. It would have been great if there was enou...

Re: My new bluebells and rir

I think it would happily hold your six. We had four large and two medium in the eco hen loft and the maxi is a fair bit bigger. Our four large hens (two Orpingtons, Bluebell and Speckled Sussex) would share the two perches while the two medium (Speckledy and Fenton Rose) would snuggle up together in...

Re: Looking for ideas for a chicken coop

Hi Organics, welcome to the lane 2/3 roosters with 2/3 hens wouldn't be a good idea. It would be better to have 4/5 hens and one rooster. They can be very dominant and having a higher ratio of hens will spread the love rather than having 3 hens permanently pestered (if you get my drift). Are you UK ...

Re: My new bluebells and rir

Awww they're gorgeous! I love Bluebells I too would stick with your current coop for now. It seems silly to replace it when there's nothing wrong with it - replace it if or when it starts to deteriorate. When the time is right, have a look at Solway Recycling - they're a great little company making ...
