Apple JuiceWe'll shortly be coming to the time we have an abundance of apples (hopefully). The past two seasons we've had to just let a lot go to waste as we've been too busy with the house and garden to do anything with them. This year we'd like to make use of them by maybe making apple juice ( cider would be...
Re: My new DogOh he's gorgeous. We have a rescue lurcher and he's just so loving and affectionate
Gloomy Weather!Does anyone else think this gloomy weather we've been having is having an effect on their girls? At this time of year they're normally out and about until 10ish at night but they've been going in about 8 o'clock sometime earlier because it's so dark and not coming out so early in the morning. Our eg...
Re: PlasticsI remember my nan using old knickers as cloths, not that long ago either
Re: PlasticsMy mum still does it if she gets a chance and I'm 53 now I buy wipes to wipe my doggies feet when we come in from a walk but no longer. I've got some old tea towels that I'm going to cut into squares and run under the tap. I'll wash them with his old towels each week but it doesn't matter if they do...
Re: PlasticsInteresting Gwen, obviously some people just aren't aware or don't care Watched half of Hugh's programme so far and totally gobsmacked by the wipes thing. Just looked online at eco versions and they're at least double the price even more in a lot of cases. No wonder people won't change as the majori...
Re: PlasticsTotally agree Lancashire Lass - it is a problem on a massive scale and there is no easy solution. I watched the programme Stacy Dooley made about cotton production which again was a real eye opener and worth a watch. Haven't watched Hugh's programme last night yet but looking forward to it. I think ...
Re: 1900 IslandHi Spreckly, glad someone else watched, beginning to think I'd made it up It was BBC2 not BBC1 as I first though ('cause it's The One Show at that time ). I wanted more too, just 4 episodes just didn't seem enough!
Re: 1900 IslandIt's been on every night this week at 7pm BBC1 (I think). Last episode tonight. 4 families living in a fishing community in Anglesey in 1900. How they lived and worked with all the trial and tribulations. Very interesting
1900 IslandAnyone watching this? It's really good
Re: PlasticsI caught up with it last night. I really like everything that Hugh does anyway but this was a real eye opener. Looking forward to next week with the bathroom products as that's another area where I've been trying to cut down by using soap bars and even shampoo bars.
Re: Aphid controlI tried the garlic spray one on my roses once and it did seem to work on the greenfly. Just remember to stand up wind of where you're spraying or you give off a lovely aroma for the rest of the day
Re: PlasticsIt is frightening , which was my initial point. How can we as individuals make a difference by doing a little bit here and a little bit there when we're absolutely surrounded by plastic in some form or other that we seemingly 'can't do without'. A real conundrum!! On the other hand I read a lovely q...
Re: PlasticsWow, those ecobricks look really interesting
You're right, sometimes there no alternative to buying something wrapped/packaged using plastics. You wonder what we all did before it was used I such quantities
Re: Hatten GardenWe watched the series and really enjoyed it and the real life documentary at the end - very interesting. Didn't Timothy Spall look ill though, I know he was playing someone who was ill but he looked very gaunt!
