Re: Tortoises are thick skinned, luckily.

When I was a child I found a tortoise walking across the road. So I picked it up and carried it home, fortunately facing away from me, because it started to pee, and it just kept going! I couldnt believe something that little, about the size of a tea plate, could have that much fluid inside it. I th...

Re: Sox

Sorry I havent been on here for a while, but I just have one kitten now. I found really good homes for four of the kittens, and I kept a little boy who I called Boo. He is a lovely kitten, and we love him to bits. Ive been promised photos of the babies when they get to 1 year. http://gallery.chelten...

Re: Sox

Right the kittens are now 9 weeks old, and this weekend three of them left home. Two to a friends grand daughter, and one to my next door neighbour. The fourth one leaves on Wednesday evening, and then it will be Sox and Boo. They've all grown up so much, and they were mad, running round the living ...

Re: Sox

Hi, thank you for your kind comments. They are real time wasters, worse than my chickens. Stef if you want to come and visit, just PM me. I have a kitten head count when people leave the house! Four of them have homes, one is staying with me, the only one without a home is the black and white one, a...

Re: Sox

Thanks Ilona, I did get some rusks and kitten milk yesterday, and they didnt like it, but Sox did and she wolfed the lot down! My OH got very excited too because apparently he loves rusks. We've been married 35 years and I didnt know that! I gave the kittens the usual packet stuff this lunch time, a...

Re: Sox

Hi Maggie, Ive had them on smooth kitten food for five days, and 3 of them have been eating that. Do I use rusks that you'd give a human baby? Shall I try mixing that with a bit of the meaty stuff? I hope I havent messed things up. Ive been feeding the Mum with kitten food, and one of them was eatin...

Sox

Hello, about 12 weeks ago I was offered and adopted a little black and white cat, who we called Sox. They weren't sure if she was spayed, and I expect you can see where this is going, because 8 weeks later she gave birth to 5 beautiful kittens. They are 4 weeks now, and full of life and great fun to...

Re: Have you back up facilities?

I have a medium sized dog crate, called 'The Hospital' for when someone is ill, and it goes in the dining room by the doors where they can see the others.
When I introduce new girls I have omlet netting which I hang in the run and newbies go in there for as long as it takes to integrate them. :-D

Go for it. Free some girls, and let them have the earth beneath their feet, and fresh air in their lungs. )t' And well done for doing it. :-D

Re: SO nervous!

Good luck with your new hens, just enjoy them, and remember to get all your housework done before they arrive because you will be so busy watching them you wont want to do anything else! :-D
